Unusual Pulp Fiction - It's all Greek to me
« on: March 10, 2014, 06:02:24 AM »
Does anyone happen to know anything about this poster? I bought it from a reputable eBay poster dealer in the mid-90s. It measures 19 x 27 inches, single sided.

can't see it all too well, but from these small pics I would guess it is a commercial poster of some sort

What language is the text on that circular snipe? It might provide some clues? EDIT - it's obviously Greek per your thread title! No idea what size Greek posters normally are I'm afraid!

Yes, it is look like a regular Greek poster (Cannes Film Festival Palme d'Or...) to me.

Here is another unusual, not very common one:

This is... well we can say Yugoslavian variant, but more precisely it is Serbian poster.
At that time (1994) former Yugoslavia was already fragmented into separate countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia...).
On the eBay from time to time you can see Croatian PF poster (titled "Pakleni sund").

Yugoslavian (but in fact, Serbia and Montenegro) poster is much less seen

Thanks for the info.  I will try to post bigger pics. They were large, but photobucket has made them smaller, and I don't know how to change that yet - will look at my settings.

I was told it was def a cinema poster, but we shall see :-)

Lynbabs poster is identical design (not size) to this one sheet on emovieposter but additionally has a Cannes snipe looking thing on it (written in Greek).  Just noticed Lynbabs poster is also trimmed (or was never printed) by about 1-2 cm off the left side (You'll see with a close up of the image the writing is not exactly centered)

This is all very interesting. I will try to post this bigger pic (should I make it even bigger?), then check out the link, thanks. My poster seems to be machine cut and doesn't show any signs of having been trimmed, possibly printed that way?

Yes, I see what you mean, but mine has the weird masking tape design around the edges - never seen that before.

Is that picture of your poster, in a sleeve with actual masking tape on the sleeve, or are you saying what we see is purely your poster?

Hi - what you are seeing is purely poster, it isn't in a sleeve. The odd 'masking tape' border art work is part of it.  Weird, eh?

The poster is rolled and entirely unblemished. Only the art work makes it appear otherwise.

Yugo, forgot to say, thanks for posting your version.  Fascinating. We don't often see posters from these countries. I'll keep an eye on eBay.

Is that round, Greek snipe actually printed on the poster, too? Or is it an added sticker?

It's printed on the poster.
