I recently picked up this 27x40 version of The Untouchables.
I had thought that British posters were made only in the 40 x 30 quad size. It looks like the quad version with the ends cut off.

Pardon the picture but I still havent gotten a good camera. Been spending all extra cash on these things.

It doesnt quite measure up as it comes in 1/4 of an inch short of the 40.

The logos and writing are not sharp.

I was in the process of framing it but I just had to ask the experts this question. Am I being paranoid yet again?   Cool

I cant say for sure .. but fuzzy text is a bad sign the 1/4" doesnt have to mean anything bad some are not exactly 27x40 ... Oh and some UK posters are 1 sheet style but a majority of UK paper is the quad layout Smiley

As in the U.S. we do have quite a wide selection of sizes in the U.K, and 1shts are among them. The Quad is the most popular, possibly followed by the 1sht.

Also sometimes the sizes are not bang on, and in some cases inches out. This is not all the time, but it is not unusual. So unless the poster is in front of you, in some cases it is difficult to say if it's genuine or reprint. It does catch a few out.

Hi!
Can't quite see in your image - but if there's no certification letter after the title, that would suggest it's an International 1-sheet ...

... check this one on LAMP ...

... I think they possibly have the size wrong.

Yes, this is a UK International one sheet. My copy is slightly larger than yours but still slightly under 27 x 40 - LAMP's dimensions are incorrect.

Hi!
Ed has now corrected the dimensions on LAMP - in fact, he has completley updated the entire LAMP Poster Database entry for THE UNTOUCHABLES, as follows:

I have a couple of copies and both are 1/8 inch under 40. They have National Screen Service Printed in England on the bottom edge towards the left hand corner. They also have text which is a little fuzzy but that does not make them fake. If you look at the print quality on a recent Harry Potter quad you will see that even nowadays the text is not always sharp.
