Would it make more sense (and be cheaper) these days to provide the MPAA with a hi res digital rendition of a poster, rather than going to the expense of printing up posters that could then, possibly, be rejected?

Just wondering, too, here.  :-\

Noob question here about cases where posters are 'banned' by the MPAA.

Do these posters get to print before they're banned or are they previewed by the MPAA first who then say no and that's it? I've read that quite a few poster designs have been banned in the past but no conclusion on how often they're already printed up and acquirable somehow.

You want one too, eh? :)
If you find it, PM me!!!

Lol, I was going to ask about it directly but didn't want to derail the convo with the responses I expected :)

Also genuinely interested for future reference, the only recall I have is the Pulp Fiction one and wouldn't mind a few more!

Here's a wild, new one sheet for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014).

Indeed.

There are also standees for Transformers 4 with that design, currently at theaters.  Some of them are 15 feet tall, but many are about 7 feet.

not just that, like all those concept designs I picked up last year, in general they will only print up a small few to be sent out for approvals to various people (MPAA, studio, actor, producer etc) if they even get to printing at all.

Don't let Jason see that!!! He'll come down with lenticu-shelter-standee-itis and I'm pretty sure that is incurable. ;)

What do you think the shipping on that beast would be? No, I mean not taken apart. I want it sent already assembled.

This photo looks like it was taken outside and to the left of the famous Bronson gate at Paramount Studios. If so, then this is likely no run of the mill standee. The figures actually look very 3D and it makes me wonder what they are made from. They certainly look like they were cast out of some material (lightweight resin maybe?), painted/airbrushed and assembled later.

Jeff, I've seen a few of these (the smaller version) at theaters around here.  They look very similar.  You're right, they do have a 3d effect, and appear to be made out of the same material that most standees are.  They're pretty cool.  8)

Very cool Brandon.. and the sheer size of this one..I mean, look at it's height compared to the tree behind it... makes it the mother of the Transformer 3D standees... yowza!!   clap

America - home of the redacted side-boob.
Is this the first case of less boob being required for a movie?

On a side note: Dale, please let me know when you get these character posters in. I'm interested in one of them. :)

So I may have missed it in the article but with that slight boob job is the poster now approved?

Still not a 'poster' sized image.  It looks like a banner at best...

I thought I had read an article that explicitly said it was approved, but can't seem to find it.
A Page Six article did have this image with 'approved' under the altered poster:

Poster, banner, 6-sheet - the bigger the better (except in the case of side-boob, apparently).

Is that greek? :) or is that a sign of drinking too much ouzo?

 ;D

Ouzo? Never drink that crap. I stick to Tsikoudia/Raki when drinking Greek booze.

LMAO that is no shit. Good guy Jason is. I am still trying to figure out where he stores all the big items he buys. I know he keeps them at his parents house cause they have a room in the basement but hell I would think it would be full by now lol.

They have begun dribbling out poster/banner designs for Guardians.
Colorful, eh?
