Big Heat, The (1953 US 1S): "Though Gloria Grahame is never sexier than she is on the Desire poster — and the depicted moment between Ford and Grahame never actually happens: It’s Lee Marvin that grabs her like that in the film!"

Forbidden Planet (1956): Although Robby does carry around objects in the movie - and he says can carry several tons - he never carries Anne Francis:

Thing (1981 US 1S): Drew Struzan came up with this classic concept on one day's notice without knowing a "thing" about the movie:

Great topic! A classic example is The Wasp Woman.

The one-sheet has an incredible image of a giant female wasp with a human head:

Of course, when you watch the actual movie, you learn it is a woman wearing a pretty mediocre "wasp" mask over her head!

The Wasp Woman one sheet, as well as the other three, are crazy cool, .

Interesting topic.  Who would have thunk those scenes wouldn't be in the films?  Looking forward to hopefully seeing more like those.  cheers

The most infamous one of course is.....

THE BEAST WITH A MILLION EYES

As was the case with a number of exploitation films, the order of the day was

1) come up with a great title.
2) hire an artist to paint the poster art.
3) hire someone to write the film, based on title and poster.
4) try and make the film, have no money, do your best.
5) lure punters in with campaign ( note called exploitation in exhibitors manuals)
6) lots if unhappy bums on seats whe the beast doesn't actually have a hundred eyes let alone a million.
7) make a profit.
8) next projects please.

Exploitation cinema 101

Roll up roll up.

This French, 1970's RR poster for Casablanca, features an image of Bogart that looks to be from one of his earlier "gangster" flickers:

What's with the speeding car and Norris never bends that iron bar in the movie :P

The temple or building collapsing........another emphasize-the-strength gimmick.
