Glassine sheets

So after 4.5 years of collecting, I finally got around today to protecting my more valuable non-linenbacked posters by placing glassine between them.

Got them from Talas:

Following the recommendation of postermountain:

It is better to put them front to back and place a sheet of glassine in between. You can buy glassine through Talas or Gaylord online.

If you lay them front to front, the image can transfer onto one another.

Seems like well priced stuff.

Personally I prefer Mylar sleeve as it makes handling the posters a lot easier and also, given their comment regarding image transference, I can lay face up for quick viewing and selection in the drawer.

Just to clarify, they were referencing linen-backed posters.  I don't think regular posters will transfer images.

How much are mylar sleeves each when bought in bulk?  The glassine sheets are very cheap - about $0.80 each.

Sure, Mylar are very expensive in comparison but from a handling point of view I feel the sleeves are better.

But for long term storage (set and forget as it were) then the Glassine would be the smarter/cheaper option.

You can get Glassine a little cheaper if you buy it by the roll. (not sure if your $.80 included shipping or anything)

http://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-12942/Specialty-Paper/48-x-300-Glassine-Paper-Rolls

With this a sheet cut to 48 x 30 would yield you 120 sheets @ $.67/sheet + the cost of shipping the roll. Which at 25lbs. Id suspect would cost $20-30 to ship. Which could end up pushing your cost up to the $.80/sheet range. I guess it would depend on if your $.80 figure included shipping.
