Thanks for the heads-up on that, Chris.

This is 'coming soon' from Taschen - and relatively cheap for:

Hardcover, 14 x 19.5 cm, 600 pages

No idea on the overall quality yet or if just basically a reproduced HA auction picture book but could be worthwhile...

https://www.taschen.com/pages/en/catalogue/film/all/49349/facts.film_noir_movie_posters.htm

PS - try to ignore Gabin in The Grand Illusion which is clearly not a proper noir  eyeroll

Looks like a good one, Chris. And from Taschen, no less.  clap clap

Oh this is wonderful news. I pre-ordered as soon as I saw this. Thanks for posting Jeff.

An updated version of the 2009 book, "Reynold Brown: A Life in Pictures" by Dan Zimmer will be shipping in September. With an added 80 pages, it looks to be quite nice with many new, added pictures and text.

Pre order and preview info can be found here:

Stopped by Barnes and Noble today and they had this James Bond Poster Book for 50% off, came to a little over $10.  Lots of nice poster pics all the way up to Skyfall.  Worth a look see if you have a B&N nearby.

I haven't bought a movie poster book in ages, mainly because I like to collect posters, not books on posters, but I was a little curious about the Art of Mondo they just published, so I went for it.

I have to say, it's pretty nice.  Some 300+ prints on display, what they consider their best since 2009.  They've had quite a run, I must say.  I don't always agree, but who am I to talk since I own 94 prints from the book.  I see 8 I'd still like to get, but will never own since I'm against buying from resellers.

So if you like prints, I recommend it.

Here are a few pages...

De rigueur book for the 24x36 devotees.

Mondo's newest digital archive is also top notch - 54 pages with 36 posters each:

Don't think this has been posted before, apologies if it has, but while browsing for something else on the UK Amazon site, I came across this book, which is being published on this side of the pond in January.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Voluptuous-Terrors-Horror-Posters-Cinema/dp/1840686901/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1509026157&sr=1-1

No 'Look Inside' tab, so hard to tell whether it will be any good. Still, if one ignores the age-old advice and judges by the cover, it has potential...

And another one due out in January, according to Amazon UK.

It would have to go some to be better than Armin's book on Japanese posters!

Looks to be a good book for the Mondo collectors out there. This book came out last October, and is titled The Art of Mondo.

REEL ART was, for me, the book that opened the door to all those great 30's & 40's posters. Today, Heritage's catalogs serve the same function. That huge ART OF JAMES BOND poster book is THE book to have on OO7 posters, along with Thomas Nixdorf's tome. As much as I want to like it, Frangioni's Clint Eastwood book is only ok, because for me it commits the cardinal sin of spreading 1/2 or 3/4 of a poster across 2 pages which ruins the flow of the poster and frankly looks awful. And it's done throughout the book.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but there is also the Japanese Viva OO7 book. It's a thin softcover book but it's packed with rare Japanese posters, chirashi's, handbills and all kinds of Bond goodness. The back section of the book has all the Man From UNCLE posters released in Japan.

It would have to go some to be better than Armin's book on Japanese posters!

Update: Found a copy of this in a central London bookstore so was able to browse through it. It's a collection of 100 Japanese horror film posters (roughly 25-33% Japanese films and the rest mainly North Anerican and Italian), one per page. The images are nice, a few obscurities, but many of them will be familiar to fans of this kind of material. Disappointingly, there's no commentary about the posters. Each one tells the year the film was made and the director. As suspected, not a patch on Armin's Banzai book and really only of interest for those new to the fairly extreme/artful Japanese approach to horror film marketing.

AJm, that was just for the numbered/limited leatherbound edition which also included signatures from Godzilla actors Haruo Nakajima (who has since passed away) and Akira Takarada.

The regular softcover edition is still available for 34.99 postpaid in the USA.

I actually read this three weeks ago, pretty good info from his family, friends and artists, but oddly nothing directly from Reynolds Brown himself. He passed in 1990 and presumably gave no interviews since he was obscure.

Major points I remember:

+ his son said he worked in a very small studio at home and would not allow family to see his "lurid" artwork for later MPs
+ he quit MP work out of frustration and turned to generic western art
+ he was "supernova" talented with technical detail, even as child
+ got average pay despite obvious exceptional skill (in another MP book it is reported that artists were readily available and had no bargaining power)
