I have that particular James Bond book as well as a couple other Bond books. I thought the content was pretty good and the quality of the way it was made was excellent.

James Bond: 50 Years of Movie Posters - best Bond poster book by far, hundreds of pics of posters, including some unreleased...

Sorry Mel, I have to completely disagree with this and no, it's not because it is you - it could be anyone so please don't take this personally.

It has been discussed previously - the best Bond poster book in many people's opinion (well, at least all those collectors I have spoken with about it) is still Nixdorf's from 1997. Despite it being in German, it is brilliant and well worth the buy. I guarantee you will change your mind if you can get hold of a copy.
Best wishes,
Adam

Good thread! Thanks to those that have posted, I've added a handful to my Amazon wishlist. I'll try and add a few of my faves...sorry for the bad photos!

Saul Bass: A Life in Film and Design
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Saul-Bass-Life-Film-Design/dp/1856697525/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1362696203&sr=1-1
This is a beautiful big hardcover that appears to be really comprehensive. It has lots of images, but interesting and informative text too. Film posters, corporate work like logos and my fave sections on the title designs he worked on. I got it for Christmas and I keep dipping in, but have hardly made a dent as it contains so much. Very much recommended if you like his work.

Just got this for my bday.  Great book.

If anyone had any doubt that posting something here would either drive up the price or increase the competition (or both)... see above!

It was a BIN.. so the price was set. No way for it to be "driven up" in this case. (Or I wouldn't have posted it, otherwise).

And the Point is.. hopefully a fellow APF'r snagged it.

I have really enjoyed this book about the development of color lithography in the US. There is very little printed that I am aware of on movie poster printing, this is a very pretty book concerning stone and zinc plate lithography and the origins of what would become the movie poster printing business.

Another very good book with great images of very rare posters is by longtime collector Ira Resnick, called Starstruck which has already been shown here.

Good news for anyone here that was looking for a copy of this book.

I was browsing ebay this AM, and saw that the same seller is offering another copy of the Bond poster book - ("LICENCE TO THRILL" BY THOMAS NIXDORF) - same price ($49.95) and free shipping, (for anyone here that might have missed the earlier copy).  thumbup

The seller is my friend, Jeff.
I told him I'd mentioned Nixdorf's book on a couple of forums etc and he said that he had just sold a copy to someone from the forums!
Best wishes,
Adam

Heres another option for the color explosion. $50 free shipping with a best offer. Simply telling the seller youd rather buy from them than ebay you may be able to get it for $25-30 from the ebay seller

My local B&N (yes some people still go to bookstores!) had Art of the Modern Movie Poster for 19.99, sticker is 75.00 and online running 35ish still, so a good deal.

Amazon linkage - http://www.amazon.com/Art-Modern-Movie-Poster-International/dp/0811861716/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421080203&sr=8-1&keywords=modern+movie+poster

Thanks for the heads up Dale.  My local B&N didn't have it, but the one by the theater where I caught Birdman had a stack of them for $19.99.

With shipping the online is closer to $40 and those are used, so this is a pretty sweet deal...

Barnes and Noble online has it for $18.00 + $4.00 shipping or free shipping with $25 purchase.

That site is fucking terrible.

Here is what it pulls up when you search for the title...

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/s/Art-of-the-Modern-Movie-Poster?keyword=Art+of+the+Modern+Movie+Poster&store=book

No mention of the $17.99 one at all...

Neo's link is the one to use apparently...

If you click on the result that comes up via your search and then click the Hardcover format link at the bottom it brings up the cheaper option too.  Might need to search Bargain Books specifically to find the other one??

Yeah, they do everything that they can to hide it.  I hope that this is the last B&N gift card that I get from anyone.  Why bother when everything is easier and, usually, cheaper on Amazon...

From Thomas Hodge, aka The Dude Designs, a rad looking book VHS Video Cover Art is scheduled to be released May 28, 2015.  cool1

http://www.amazon.com/VHS-Video-Cover-Art-1980s/dp/0764348671

"Video cover art is a unique and largely lost artform representing a period of unabashed creativity during the video rental boom of the 1980s to early 1990s. The art explodes with a succulent, indulgent blend of design, illustration, typography, and hilarious copywriting. Written and curated by Tom “The Dude Designs” Hodge, poster artist extraordinaire and VHS obsessive, with a foreword by Mondo’s Juston Ishmael, this collection contains over 240 full-scale, complete video sleeves in the genres of action, comedy, horror, kids, sci-fi, and thriller films. It’s a world of mustached, muscled men, buxom beauties, big explosions, phallic guns, and nightmare-inducing monsters. From the sublime to the ridiculous, some are incredible works of art, some are insane, and some capture the tone of the films better than the films themselves. All are amazing and inspiring works of art that captivate the imagination. It’s like stepping back in time into your local video store!"
