WAKE UP AND DREAM (1934) U.S. three sheet poster on linen

There were three different films with this title. This is the 1934 version which starred Russ Columbo. Columbo was a singer whose career might have easily rivaled that of Bing Crosby. But Ruggiero Eugenio di Rodolpho Colombo died in 1934, very soon after completing this film. He was shot, presumably accidentally, by his friend, photographer Lansing Brown, who was handling an antique pistol when it discharged, killing Columbo. Columbo had a lively recording career and his matinee idol good looks and his talent got him early entry into sound motion pictures. He enjoyed an enormous success on radio as well. The film also stars Roger Pryor, June Knight and Catherine Doucet. Look for an early appearance by western sidekick Andy Devine. The film was directed by Kurt Neumann. Any material on this film is rare.

MARILYN MONROE postcard proof sheet for photographs by Saw Shaw

This is, of course, not a movie poster. But I always thought that these were cool. It's a proof-sheet from the printer for a run of postcards featuring Marilyn that was licensed by the photographer Saw Shaw. These look really great when framed. Good for a home theater. I only have one example. This is it.

Theater-used title card in fine plus condition. Some small spots in the bottom border area. Some pinholes in the border area where the card was pinned up. An angst-ridden Laraine Day is pulling her hair out! The film was based on a play by Bayard Veiller.

This film, a financial and critical failure, in which Richard Burton played a sadistic homosexual criminal based loosely on Ronnie Kray, effectively ended the career of Burton as a viable box office draw. The film was distributed in the U.S. by the Columbia Broadcasting System. The film also stars Ian McShane, and is directed by Michael Tuchner. This theater used poster is in very good, with some minor distresses at the fold intersection and some browning along the fold lines.

Yes, I appeared on this program several years ago. The crew was really cool. Texas Country Reporter is in syndication and they replay these episodes from time to time. Bob Phillips introduces the segments. They usually do two or three in each show. They go around Texas and do human interest stories on interesting places and people. I guess I qualified as one. I was reluctant to do it at first, but later warmed to the idea.

The puns at the end were pretty bad but I enjoyed this video. Great job Kirby! The part were you answer the phone about a SW poster is pretty funny - you still get phone calls like that? I'm not sure I even order pizza over the phone anymore !
