Whether I actually provide pics at that extreme resolution is still TBD.  I don't want to help out the bootleggers, but I also want to provide a quality site.  I like how Ed's site provides such nice detail -- maybe I'll provide a lesser resolution version of the full poster, and then just do some extreme crops to highlight the detail areas.  So the end result would be similar to Ed's site, but it would only require one very high quality photo on my part (it's my understanding that Ed takes multiple photos).

I'm a bit more concerned how the site will look at the moment, as great as Ed's site is, I'm not sure you can do a site like that with a large quantity (several thousand titles), it would take too much time to get through.

How so?  Meaning the write-up and detailed photos for each poster?  I agree if that is the case.  I'll likely give the full treatment to important posters, but skimp a bit on lesser titles.

By the way Paul, I don't want to intimidate you by making it sound too complicated.  I just uploaded the original JPEG file that came out of the camera (download here).  In all honesty, it would be 100% fine to just use that.  My post-processed version is on the left, straight out of the camera is on the right.

Yes, you can eek out a bit more performance by shooting in RAW and doing some post processing, but it's really not that necessary.  Most important is to get nice even lighting and square up the camera with your poster board as best as you can.  Then just shoot, shoot, shoot and upload.  You can even set your camera to shoot RAW + JPEG.  Then in your camera options set the JPEG to a lower, more web-appropriate resolution -- i.e. if you camera is 12mp, your in-camera options might let you also pick from 8mp, 5mp, and say 2mp.  If you pick something like 5mp you won't even have to resize after you shoot -- and you'll still have the original RAW file if you need higher resolution options at a later date, or if you decide to start learning about post-processing.

As a reminder, here is a comparison of my post-processed version vs. HA.  So basically I got the same quality as HA* by using the JPEG as shot.

*FULL DISCLOSURE: HA uses a slightly lower resolution image than then ones I uploaded so don't judge too much on sharpness...

I am very stoked to see these two collections go on line.

Every collector on this board should have a website, even if its just a flicker, tumblr, photobucket image organizer.
Someplace... anyplace... to document and share all of this sordid business.

Now, howzabout Lyn and Matias, eh?

Ted, I've actually had this discussion with my son. He wants me to post the collection also, but laziness and the fact that there are many sites out there with far more interesting stuff have slowed me down.

the "damp with anticipation" made me pass milk through my nose.  So subtle but fun knee.

Listen to your son, Lyn.   wynk
Yes, there are many interesting sites out there, but I would have to disagree with you on others having 'far more interesting stuff.'
Most everything I've seen framed on the walls of your home is museum worthy.
Just think how all of those posters and pics would look on line.
It is a bit of work, but maybe your boy can help?
Make it a family project!
 cheers

I'm digging the photobucket thing.  You can probably put a good 500 pictures on there for free at high res.  All you need to do is highlight your pics and drag them onto a folder...easy and fast.

For god's sake, do it for the children!

^ Agree. Besides, I do think that seeing a collection all put together in photos or website helps to appreciate it better.

The Photobucket is fine until you have too many pics up loaded. and then it's a **** of the first order, next thing you have to cancel that account and you lose all the pics you've posted.. moron1

Yvonne signed up for Google+, or Crome or something and she had to change the/our pass-word, since then it won't recognise the old one...  I even tried
logging on from another computer with the old pass-word, but nothing. It seems there's no-way to contact the sods either...  moron1
