Thanks to Ted (brude) I recently discovered tumblr, and for someone like me, who auctions items with cool images, it seems like it has great potential as a way to promote my business. We put up the "teaser ads" we created at http://emovieposter.tumblr.com/

Am I allowed to upload endless numbers of images, or are there limits? And can I delete old ones, or should they all stay on there endlessly? Any other tips or pointers?

I am so confused!

Ok, are these mini posters within the mini auction section of the mini/major auction or part of the major auction?

Where are the real posters?  Lobbies don't count, they are like the stepchildren!

Just saw your blog Bruce.  Nice.
I believe that there is a limit to daily posts.  Possibly 200 in a 24-hour period.
And yes, you can delete old posts from your dashboard using the trash can icon.
 cheers

I have just installed a new animated theme, that stacks my images/posts five columns across.
Check it out and let me know what you people think.
There is also a link at top for a movie poster page that sorts poster images on a separate page.

Heard of Pinterest? Unlimited.

Do you Tweet? Why not?

It can be relatively easy to set it up so it automatically adds new entries from your site as they are listed (dependent on the auction software) and add them to almost any social network service out there. Most social network services have apps (or simple code) that allow it to all be done automatically or at the very least semi automatically.

Alternatively you can do it all yourself, there are a number of services that will integrate with dozens (and dozens) of social networks automatically, and ALL automatically. Services like http://ifttt.com/wtf or http://hootsuite.com/ do it for you. Alternatively maybe you should spend a few dollars and get a social networking company or internet savvy company to organise the way you market yourself via the net.

From what I have heard, they are leaving Pinterest and Facebook in droves for tumblr.
The interaction of streaming threads is kind of unique, I guess.
There is also an automated queue that will steadily post your pics at any time of the night or day.
I haven't used it yet, but it looks simple enough.

I can't seem to find current blogger #s, but it went from 32 million in August 2012 to 77 million by October 2012.  45 million new users in less than two months.
Currently I have 649 followers.  My son started the same day and he passed 1500 last night.
He showed me a few tricks on how to get followers to follow and they work.  200 of those followers I picked up in the last 36 hours.

Have you heard of 'tumblr famous?'
Check this silly shit out:  http://www.wikihow.com/Be-Tumblr-Famous

Pinterest is relatively new so I don't think they are leaving just yet and it will take a long time before Facebook feels the impact of people leaving. Streaming threads is of course what Pinterest is all about.

As most social networks are free it pays to be on the boat of the most popular AND the most populous.

So I guess this needs a bump.  Looks like Bruce hasn't updated since February...  Ted kind reintroduced me to tumblr in November and I find it a lot of fun.  I even had my first 100+ note post the other day.  I've had some creep up to 30 or so but my phone was going crazy for like three days straight on this one...

I knew it would always be an Audrey...  Shout out to Ves for getting this one for me a while back...

I have just been too busy. They also have some anti-spamming rules about how many images you can post per day, or week.

I had thought of putting each entire auction there (no problem) but that seems against their rules.

I will re-visit this next year.

Please not I am solely responding to what Charlie said about me here, and I am in no way promoting my auctions.

Nah you shouldn't be trolled here B...  You started the thread about tumblr, it is your thread, sorry I hijacked it.  This is such a sticky mess.  I guess where it becomes promoting is if you were to have phrased this:

"I have just been too busy."

Like this:

"I have just been too busy putting on the #1 movie poster auction in the world!"

I mean if I start a thread in GD with a direct question about emovieposter, first it should have been in a dealer experience thread, second if you respond, that is it, you responded.  I guess if we had a bit more moderation, this thread would have been moved to a dealer category long ago since it was started as a both a general topic about tumblr, but where you are using it as a promoting device.  I think what we've got is a lack of moderation (where is Jeff btw?) and too much negativity w/trolling too...  You've been trolled, but by a troll is the question?  And whether it was warranted was another.  But with the new year, maybe we can get on to better things...

Else we will have to have a sit down with Florida and California and figure out which one of youse is gonna get wacked!  I've been watching a lot of Sopranos lately...     ;)

I mean this is no way for a forum to operate, having to clarify your intentions on every post...

I just don't want most posts I make followed by a diatribe explaining what I did wrong.

Whatever it takes to make that happen is fine by me.

Like you, I really used to look forward to seeing what was newly posted here. Now...
