These Academy Awards will be quite interesting.  Argo is on fire...  AA nominations, wins at the Golden Globes, SAG, PGA, DGA and BAFTA today...  Not being nominated for an Academy Award has given Ben Affleck a gigantic boost.  There was suck a backlash after he was omitted that a lot of people decided to give him everything else.  I liked Argo a lot, but I don't believe it deserves all of the above.  It will be quite something if it also wins the Oscar.  A friend of mine was sat a table away from the Lincoln table at the Globes told me that Spielberg was fuming.  He personally asked Clinton to present Lincoln and never expected to lose.  It is the most interesting and unpredictable awards season in a long time.

I really hope Lincoln can still win the Best Picture Oscar.

I thought they already were over, was it so long ago people were talking about it?
Only thing worse is the Aussie awards.
Unless you or a close friend or relative is up for an award I see no pleasure in watching this tripe.

I personally can't wait.  But that's probably because I live in LA and everyone I know works in the business, some of my friends have been nominated, I've been to the show and the after parties, etc.  We live and breathe this shit here.  Party at my house this year.

If Spielberg really thinks that Lincoln is the best film of the year, then he has lost all sense of reality.

I think Vegas is giving the best odds to Argo.  Having seen 5 of the 9, I dont get it.  I put it in 3rd at best of the 5 I have seen.  But, for whatever reason, the critics are all over it.  And based on the awards already, history is on its side.  I think Spielberg was just fuming because he lost at ANYTHING to Ben Affleck.  Ben Affleck, same guy that starred in Gigli.  I'd probably have been fuming too.

Thanks.  You know what you did.

I can't wait!!! I imagine that Amour or Lincoln will win. I don't know who is presenting this year. Haven't read much, need to catch up with all the awards' gossip. It must be real fun living in LA during the award session  ;)

There is a demonstration this afternoon and my wife wants to go.  I took her to Bullet to the Head last month, and that was a token.  She might use that token against me today and force me to go with her.  That's bullshit!

Stallone + Hill, how can you go wrong ;)  Okay, the guy is a little stiff, but still.  I went to so many real demonstration growing up in Paris, sometimes with more than 1,000,000 people down the streets.  It's a Latin thing, to walk and scream.  Now, that was fun.  But a 100 people at a street corner doesn't appeal to me.  Plus, we have a small Oscar party at home and 16 RSVPs.  But whatever...
