Isn't the Walking Dead the best show on TV?

My biggest surprise from all of these is that Claire Danes is hot.  Before, I thought the was mildly cute, but she has aged very well.

  The shows mid season finale drew big numbers and was the #1 ranked show for the 18-49 demo, beating out Big Bang, Voice and Modern Family.

I remember being glued to the TV each week for the British series Survivors (late 70s?)

Agreed! A poster shown here by Holliday led me to that series (can't remember exactly right now, but I believe it had the guy in latex suit hanging from the roof or something)

I have up on it, it was ok, but didn't grab me, and I don't like, never liked self concious genre referencing kinda stuff myself. Trying to be clever drives me nuts. I like genre that does because it is, not genre that shows it knows the genre but is too clever to sit in it. It drags me out, throws me back to post modernity studies. Saying that I wasn't bored by the show and probably one day I'll get the set for a weekend and do in a marathon, I have a feeling that would be better than once a week. Apparently series two is a big improvement, but I'm not convinced the out there subjects of the second series inside a glossy budget show will be my taste either. Nasty nuns are good, but they need the grit and slime or a European sleaze camera.
Anyway, betas sons of anarchy, which I lasted under 15 minutes.

Well lets just say for the first season I never watched it from the DVR.  The Second season no more than a day past before watching it off the DVR.  This third season with the stupid Governor plot almost a week may go by.  I haven't gotten to the point were I have to watch two episodes but it is getting close.  I miss old man Dale... He slowed it down and made it interesting...

In the early 2000's, I managed a comic book shop... a little zombie title hit the shelves and it didn't take long before people took notice.

I have never been a big fan of zombie (or the horror genre) so i wanted nothing to do with the Walking Dead.

Flash forward a few years and someone explains to me that it's not really so much about zombies, as it's about the interpersonal relationships of the survivors under extreme duress. - I picked up the trades and couldn't put them down.

Then the show hit... people who made fun of me growing up for reading comics and enjoying 'nerdy' things RAVED about it... they get around the water cooler and I'll I hear is "OMG the Walking Dead the Walking Dead!!!"

I think that fact alone really put me off from the TV show...

Personally, I prefer the books... but the show is ok. It's strayed a good bit away and is nowhere near the intensity of the books IMHO.

So in short, I'm not crazy about the TV show...

Personally, I thought Breaking Bad was one of the best shows to ever air on television.


...and I REALLY miss Gordon Shumway.
