I was guessing at 85 for the Evil Dead as it says Back at last, and the 18 cert looks printed onto the poster, as opposed to a sticker. I just thought you may remember when you got it..

The end of the never-beloved "video" poster?

Very sad news...  I was a big fan of blockbuster finally closing both my mail service and location subscriptions only about 4 months ago after about 13 or 14 years of being a frequent visitor.  The reason? They closed the one near my house.  I wasn't going to drive across town when I could just order it on my TV now...  I do hope that physical formats don't go away all together; I still like the feel and smell of a new DVD/Blu-Ray...

Blockbuster say digital distribution had a big impact on their demise such as the Netflix video streaming (view once, not keep) service, though I would say rampant illegal downloading of movies played a big part too.

Paying for subscriptions to Netflix is one thing some choose to do, but the door is wide open for people to illegally download (and permanently keep) 1000's of movies (virtually any movie that has been made) and view them whenever they like, for free.   Note you can save Netflix movie streams illegally too, though with some effort.

For example, for the purpose of indicating how endemic the problem is, shown below is somewhere in cyberspace where people can download movies (for free illegally). The green 'Seed' column (as far as I understand) are the number of people sharing that movie for other people to copy from them. The number of people who actually have downloaded that movie is far more than that I presume as not everyone shares what they download for others to copy.

The above is what I reckon is a significant contributor to the demise of bricks and mortar video stores.

I like having it in hand as well. I think in time everything movie related will be digital  :-[ But I guess that is change and we all have to accept it for what it is. I do prefer to have a hard copy in hand though and if they do away with that it will suck.

Let's not forget Blockbuster's ridiculously overpriced rental fees!  Which only declined somewhat once they hit financial trouble...

Yes, PW.  DVDs and Blu-Rays included because the terms "video rental shops", "video stores", etc., did not change even after VHS format was taken over by DVD and Blu-Ray.  Thus, DVD and Blu-Ray posters are called "video posters."

I have seen that one. I wasn't sure if it was holo foil or not with it being a video poster but it must look great in person. Are you the lucky new owner?

I bought the silly thing. I specifically asked the seller beforehand if it was holofoil so I sure hope when it arrives that it is holofoil. Fingers crossed.
