Book - The Art of the Matrix
« on: June 06, 2017, 09:09:28 PM »
At lunch today, I went to the small, local charity store. All monies for items sold on donated goods, aside from employee salaries and building rent, etc, are donated to various women and children's groups, so it's a good place.

I was looking thru the books, and came across this near mint first edition copy of The Art of the Matrix, published in 2000. It's 488 pages of the storyboard and pre-production art, drawn by principal B/W storyboard artist, Steve Skroce, color storyboard artist, Tani Kunitake, and conceptual art by Conceptual Artist, Geof Darrow. It also contains the shooting script, dated August 18, 1998.

When I began to flip thru it, I came across an unexpected perk. Both Steve Skroce & Geof Darrow had signed and done a hand drawn sketch on an inside, front page, in black pen/ink. The drawing of "Trinity" that Skroce did, is really cool. Darrow looks to have done a silly, little self portrait.

And the book was all of $3.00 (and sold new for $60.00) so I was happy to have snagged it.

They were, Brandon. I didnt discover those until I got home. And what's also cool is that I can see the light pencil drawing that Skroce did first, before doing it with the black art pen.

Good eye.  It looks like a nice work.  The sunglasses and all are very close to what eventually materialized in the movie.  8)
