Mike's international posters QUADS / 1-SHEETS and other countries
« on: September 13, 2012, 01:37:52 PM »
I continued making reference pictures of my archive. At first I took only pics of the German stuff older than 35 / 40 years since that is enough really. But then I started to photograph all the international posters I have since some are really nice and I don't have that many anyway. Mostly from films - talents I really collect. So I found out I have only 120-130 English posters. Shame, since I love quads. I think they are the best next to German and Italian posters. For some titles, if not for the most. But they are also quite expensive by now. Should have bought more in the 80s, when the prices where still low. But I have some nice ones, like BULLIT, GBU, some Wayne, Midnight Cowboy and certain others.
I'll post what I got.
I start with my favorite film and some scarce stuff. The UK D/C posters and the action quad for THE WILD BUNCH are hard to find. I especially love the 'WANTED' D/C poster. Also included are both regular quads from 1969 and 1975. All I still need is the 'JEANS' D/C plus the press quote quad (both from 1969). Anybody ?

Love that Wanted DC!  Please let me know if you find another.  And what is with the second red quad (w/thin white border)?  Is that from a re-release?  Looks easy to confuse for those who aren't in the know (aka me)!

Yes Matt, it's the 1975 re-release. In the lower right corner you can read: ''Warner Communications Company'' which was established in (approx.) 1971/1972. Before that, between 1966 and 1969 it was WARNER BROS - SEVEN ARTS, and in 1970/1971 it turned to WARNER BROS. - A KINNEY COMPANY.
The WANTED D/C I saw exactly one time in 33 years. It ended up here :)

More Sam. Including rare JR. BONNER D/C's.
The GETAWAY re-release quad is probably the best poster on this title.

The rest of my British Peckinpah posters. The PAT GARRETT quad is another favorite of mine. And again some very rare D/C's ...

Now those are some rare (and I use the word correctly) Double Crowns Mike.

I don't think people appreciate how scarce the D/C's are for a lot of titles, not just these. Very well done for finding those... happy1

Agreed Paul.  DCs are a pain to track down... especially for those across the pond.  Still, I need to find me one of those Wild Bunch DCs.  It would be *perfect* on my wanted wall... the colors match and everything!  If anyone comes across one, please let me know!

I'll keep an eye out Matt, but I don't hold out a great deal of hope.

I should keep my gob shut here, but most D/C's that have survived even from recent time's will be in single figures, quantity-wise...

I collect BUNCH since 1980, I saw the WANTED only once: my buddy, who also collects Peckinpah, picked it up at the local cinema in 1970! 35 years later he sold it to me...

GORGEOUS Bonnie & Clyde ! Faye looks fantastic.

Hey Mike, the Katie Elder is a Re-release.... So is the Green Berets.  I'm not really familiar with Cahill, but I think that one too.

The others are spot on.

Yes I like that one too. Lousy film, but great poster. My first Quad on Wayne, bought in 1983 for 8 Pounds.

Some more... Dustin Hoffman, MIDNIGHT COWBOY being one of my Top 10 films. But I love
almost everything he did before the 1980s. ALL THE PRESIDENT's MEN, GRADUATE :)

"Relief...discomfort...

Oh, don't worry. I'm not going into that cavity.
That nerve's already dying. A live, freshly-cut nerve is
infinitely more sensitive.
So I'll just drill into a healthy tooth until I reach the pulp.
That is unless, of course, you can tell me that it's safe.

Is it safe?"

Yes, me too :)
My two favorite actors, in two of their best films...

I'd like to get a MIDNIGHT COWBOY quad in better condition,
but I suppose they are quite scarce and expensive by now ?

They don't turn up very often, but they are not as expensive as you would think...

Dustin and me share the same Birthday, though not the same year...  :D
