worth the time
« on: July 22, 2012, 11:20:11 PM »
i am sure people post these a bunch, and i know it is truly up to me...but...

So i have a Spanish vampyres poster, i say this alot, but it is probably my fav image on paper. the distorted image, creepy castle, well naked chicks.  I got a bad condition one cheap. Outside of seeing the same seller listing it for a unholy BIN and never selling, what would its worth be and in a money/collector value,  if i had it linen backed. These problems to the poster dint contain anything on the actual image itself, just the paper is a bit brittle and water stained on back; almost like it was soaked then dried. SO i dint like to handle it alot but planned to get it framed soon. If i plan to frame it and never remove it from the frame, would you get it fixed. heck i am halfway scared to unfold it again, thus why i have no pic of it in my album.

I'd get it backed.
Pre-90s Spanish paper is just slightly better quality than Mexican paper -- which isn't saying much.
They can brown quickly and get brittle fast.
If you want it to last, it might be wise to have it cleaned and backed for preservation.

Recently dug this one out of the vault for pics (which came washed-out like shit through a goose).
It's much nicer in person.
Thought you'd get a kick out of it.

IMHO I think you are better off not getting backed, get a better condition example if the one you have bothers you - this is not a super rare or valuable poster, the linen would be worth more than the poster.
