hi all!
« on: July 21, 2012, 08:12:46 AM »
hi everybody!

i figured it common courtesy to introduce myself before bombarding you all with my ignorance. i'm peter, rather new to this form of collecting and currently a college student in nyc. being such, my discretionary income is rather limited resulting in what amounts to a rather meager collection at this point. also, my interest lies solely in the golden age (30s to maybe early 60s) and that stuff ain't cheap.

anyway, i only buy things from particular movies or actresses that i like (gene tierney!), so that'll keep it naturally slim for some time if i'm lucky. some of my wants? original fred and ginger things, a brief encounter poster ('45, they seem to be rather scarce, and the lobby cards plain as hell, so i'll be fine with a rr), and most specifically, a funny face ('57) frnch grande, which i plan on buying as soon as it hits an auction.

i stumbled upon this site a few weeks ago reading the large diy backing thread (trust me, i have no interest in doing it myself), and am sure that it'll be a tremendous aid to me in the future. what i can't add in the form of constructive comments, i'll be sure to make up with simpleminded and unintelligent questions...kidding, i won't be that bad.

thanks!

Welcome.

Sounds like great taste you have there!

Hold on tight as sometimes the ride on APF can get a bit bumpy!

And you know what, PS is clever, because at first it had the T hates change, but without asking or complaining on forum at least) a clever way around it.

Welcome Peter.
Great to have someone aboard who appreciates the classics -- and another New Yorker to boot.
 cheers

No, we need them.
They are leaving NY in droves, like Cali.
Tax rates here are ridiculous.

thanks everybody for the welcomes and the compliments on my taste (if you chance to better know me, you'll find them to be rather defined and unchanging...how exciting).

i've been reading through some interesting past threads lately (prof. powers had me dying) and i hope to better know you all in the main boards; also i'm always on ebay (i've got down the foreign titles for my fav films, so i'm on all the int'l ones too) so i'm sure to at least be in the two auction threads you'se got going.

anywho, thanks again and see you all around!
