When was the last time you saw a SS poster in a theater?

Art house posters, especially those with very small budgets, are mostly SS.  But I agree, with large theaters, I never see single sided posters except for some of the ad posters.

Sorry my LA friend, but there's a huge difference.

Yes, the difference is that you're an idiot, and I'm not.

Oh, no, let's not forget that you're the idiot that allows 46 poster tubes to be at the door when his wife comes home so that he can get his proverbial balls cut off.  Yes, you're the real idiot, my friend.

For late 80's and early 90's posters, when there were fewer DS posters printed as a proportion of the total number, I think there is a price differential which will of course vary depending on the popularity of a title and scarcity - Goodfellas and Shawshank Redemption are two titles I can immediately of where there is a big premium difference. If a DS unfolded poster is available for a title I want, that is the poster I will look to buy. I prefer unfolded SS posters over folded DS posters.

PS: They should also be 13x30 inches (give or take) ;)

Picked up this single-sided 27x40 (NOT 24x36, verified by seller) character poster for Dark Shadows coming from Huntington Beach, California. Definitely an original coming from a theater employee:

Why?  Looking at his/her current offerings and past sales, it's all just random current release stuff and very unlikely any are repros, especially since almost all are DS. Almost certainly some seller with connections to a theater.

Like I said, "If Fallen is right."
I remembered the name 'hollywoodnoise' from his post last month.
(Maybe Fallen will chip in with why he made that post.)
That and the fact that this poster was supposedly produced as a 24x36 raised my hackles.
I hope that it is real.  It's a nice image.
 cheers

You gotta use common sense with stuff like this.  There is no demand for repros of this and never will be.  In the extremely unlikely event it's a repro, it's gonna look like this:

Do you already have the poster in hand?
As for there being 'no demand' for this poster, I would beg to differ.

Brude, as an advanced collector, you should know that perfect one sheet repros are very expensive and nearly impossible to create and therefore rarely even attempted.  The Tom Loces and MovieGoods of the world profitably pump out one sheet repros but they don't even try to make them "perfect."  They sell to buyers who just don't care or don't know any better.

What is the demand for this poster?  Maybe 100 collectors on the planet would be willing to shell out $25 for it.

Why would anybody make the effort to sell to that market when you could sell 10,000 posters of Justin Bieber to pre-teen girls?

I understand what you are saying, Mel.
As a guy who knows bootlegs, you'll be able to examine it and measure it when it arrives.
I hope that it is real.

A couple of thoughts...  It's a little odd that the only two of the character posters they had for sale were the Depp and Eva posters - the likely most popular.  One would think that the others would be easier to come by, unless they weren't produced in the first place.  Also, they are located in LA, so it could be someone with a studio connection.

I dont think they are theater related, they have international stuff frequently, maybe a printer source, but I dont think theatrical.

It looks like Archie's SS poster theory is going to have to be debunked by the ultimate myth buster before he admits that he is wrong...again...  8)

Archie,is correct.
Each different poster size has it's purpose for being created. While SS make it to theaters for various reasons already mentioned, their main purpose is to be elsewhere.
