Does anybody collect these?  They are very rarely mentioned on these boards.  If you've got them, show us what you've got.

I always thought collecting these would be too much like stamp collecting.  But I picked up these lcs from "The Deep" last week from MPBid.

I'm thinking about adding a section somewhere for other forms of movie paper and movie-related collectibles like lobbies.  For now, I'll pin this topic.  I'm actually in the process of scanning my collection of of lobbies which is small but meaningful to me.  I only collect lobbies for movies that I particularly love or for movies that have a particular meaning to me.  I'll post later on, the first being my set for Big Fish.

I'm like Holiday, I don't collect Lobby Cards in general but I do have this set as I am a big Kill Bill fan as well as a QT fan in general. I thought the choices of scenes on the Thai cards were a lot better than most of the other countries. I'll have to get a picture of vol. 1 set and add it to my site and post it up here.

It has never been a big collecting habit of mine, but for some reasons (probably getting Spielberg related ones), I've built a little collection over time.

Come off it T!  I clicked on the link to your "little" section of lobbies... The first thing I noticed is how teenie tiny the scroll bar was!  Little my ass... that page goes on for miles.  Grin

Yeah, but most of it is worthless shit.  The good ones are the Hitchcock ones at the bottom, of which I only have a handful.  Some people have full sets of these, and that's REAL collecting, IMHO.  Again, collecting is always relative, and the grass is always greener.  WAY greener.

I don't have any lobby cards, but would love to get some from my favorite movies someday.

I am desperately looking for a Steven Spielberg signed letter (especially with Schindler's List content). If you have one I will make you an offer you can't refuse.

I collect posters of all sizes and many different countries
so I have lots of lobby cards

they generally fall into just a few categories:

1) Raymond Chandler - films adapted from or adapted by
2) Fritz Lang
3) Ray Harryhausen
4) Film Noir
5) Douglas Fairbanks sr
6) certain classics. For instance, I collect a couple of 1930s Joan Crawford films (Rain, Last of Mrs Cheney), this week I won a Fatty Arbuckle lc from Bruce (the one where he's feeding a banana to his maid.. too funny), Ronald Colman
7) Las Vegas and Gambling images

I'll post some pics when I have a chance later today maybe

Living in the U.K. our most popular lobby card is the Front of House still, which are 10" x 8", so that is what I mainly collected.

These are some of my most rare. They are from the first release duering the war, as can be seen from the "not printed on sensitised paper" pic. It's amazing they have lasted this long.

Not exactly lobby cards, but close.  They are Japanese stills (I think) for one of my favorite films Twilight Samurai.  I am not sure if it is a complete set or not.

Great stuff guys.  Despite their small size, I may start buying ones that are clearly superior to the main one-sheets for various reasons - superior artistry, better depiction of movie theme, etc:

Everyone always knocks lobby cards for their "small size", but somehow millions of people manage to collect postage stamps, coins and baseball cards, all of which are MUCH smaller!

I love them, so easy to frame and hang, many have fantastic border art, great scenes. easy to store. etc etc.

I wont post them all, because it would kill the bandwidth, but heres a sample.

Thatll do

Also for the record, all my lobby cards, in the many hundreds, or more by now came from either Rich at MPB or Phil Edwards at cinemarts.com

at first when I started seriously collecting I didn't like them, but then... now they are my favourite format (after daybills)
