Okay guys.
How is this going to turn out?

Cheap method for those with smaller collections. Temporary storage.

Two pieces acid free foam board. Fits UK quads and US sheets.
2" Large clamps, 1" capacity.

Now, I cut the foam board larger, because I am debating if I should get some 2mil poly bags. flatten out the poster, place in poly bags and place back into foam board sandwich.

Now, I also closed the clips and stored it vertically as seen in the picture. I WAS going to leave it flat like Charlie had his storage, however, realizing now. I didn't have that much room to store it flat. So I sandwiched some posters together, not a lot. to see how it turns out and stored them vertically for the time being.

Is this an alright idea? (no I can't get the flat file right now) And no its not staying behind that door. Just to give you an idea of the size. Can the clamps cause any marks to the posters? Each board is 3/16" thick.

I think this will work fine. What about sliding them under the bed?

The other thing that comes to mind is to get a polybag big enough to fit the foam boards (and sandwiched posters) slide them in and then tape the open end down...  That way you don't have to worry about catching one of the clamps on something.

Bed is on the floor.

I am thinking of doing it your way. Purchase the 3mil poly bags. NO backings.  Poly bag the posters, 1 poster in a bag each.
Just place them all together and back on the foamboard and just sandwich again.
Would that work?

I just don't know how much posters/poly bags can fit within the 1" capacity in the foam board sandwich.

I do the same thing (sandwich between acid free foam core) but store them under the bed with piles of books on top.  I'm not sure your binder clips are going to offer enough compression to flatten the folds... especially in the middle.

Ya, I am going to leave it for a couple of days flat with something on it too flatten. And then move it where its a better spot.

Do you use poly bags Harry?

Need a sheet of MDF that size to lay on top of the foam core now. That is not going to be enough compression to get rid of folds anytime soon.

I am not worrired about the folds. I will have it flat with some weight on it. then back to vertical storage due to space issues.

I just wanted to double check if I will run into any issues.
And how much posters do you think I can get within the two foam boards?

I don't use bags, just stacks of posters.  And I agree with Dale that you need more weight/compression to truly flatten the posters.  I had posters that used to be stored rolled for many years and even after 6 months of heavy compression they still curl up a bit.

If you are just looking for vertical storage, that is something else entirely.  In that case, the mild compression you are talking about is probably enough to keep the posters from slipping down in the bags. I have no idea how many you could get in there before you start having problems though.

Ditto.

This is what I have done, primarily for art prints/Mondo prints as well. You should be ok without acid-free in the short term, just don't keep them there for any long period of time.

I rarely flatten folded posters, but when I do, I usually do them progressively, on fold out at a time, rather than the whole thing at once.

I can understand why you rarely do this, as it sounds a pain!

Mine are flat in a stack, I hate it when I have to find one in the pile.

Geeze Ves, must take foreva before you get to see the whole poster?  ;)

I only unfold my NFS favourites, I slide them into archival sleeves so I can show them off quickly, other than that I have posters spread across 2 bedrooms and an office, either folded or flat dependent on how they came to me

Does, but less stress on the folds over all.
