Dipping my toe in the water...
« on: April 12, 2012, 06:34:49 AM »
Hi there. My name is Gemma and yes I'm that rarity of being a girl on a poster forum (pats herself down to double check. yep all good and accounted for)
I bought my first original poster when I was 15 (Monty Python's Meaning of Life - I was going through a bit Python phase at the time as all teenagers do) over 13 years ago now but I didn't really start collecting 'properly' till last year. Because I am still early in the game I only really buy for films that mean something to me rather than the artwork.
I'm mainly interested in Godard/Nouvelle Vague, Kubrick, Hitchcock... thriller/drama/sci fi.
My degrees are in Graphic Design hence why I love film posters but that doesn't stop my family wondering why the heck would I spend £900 on a bit of paper. It's my 'bit of paper' and I love them!
Thanks!
Roll, roll, roll, Rollergirl!!!

welcome1  Gemma, it's great to have another Brit on board, and a girl at that.

I was a huge Python fan in the day, check out the autograph section, I have a photo signed by the whole cast...

Looking forward to see what you've bought so far.

Enjoy.

Brazil (my favourite film)

I love Brazil.  It's easily my favorite Gilliam...

I have the Japanese B2 for the film, but would like a quad (like everyone else)...

Oh I will don't you worry!!! Favourite film. Favourite Poster. The one item I would save if the house burnt down! End of.
I meant it's a starter collection of posters that are well known to everyone, nothing unusual. I know that the Brazil is rare nowadays but it's a very familiar poster. That's all.
