Awesome collection.  Between the originals, the re-releases, and 100s of different designs worldwide, it is quite an endeavor.

You probably know this already, but the above poster is a French re-release from the 70s.  The original poster had Bob Robertson instead of Sergio Leone.  You should definitely get it.

Yes, (thanks for the reference photo!), of course I prefer 'Bob Robertson' posters. But before I spend a lot of money for this one, I rather buy different artwork from other countries and stick with my 70s 120x160. I try to improve my collection spending not to much money on single items - of course I'd like to own an Italian 2-foglio from 1965 for FEW DOLLARS MORE, who wouldn't :) But for those 2000-4000 $ or € I rather buy 10-2´0 less expensive posters. Besides the fact that I would never spend that much for a single poster, I'm not that rich.

Could Leone has picked a more appropriate generic anglicanized name than "Bob Robertson"?

I know the reasons but it just fits in so perfectly with his work - like one big inside joke...

he also acted and made some top films, like this...

and the great (better than the original) INDIANA JONES ripoff TREASURE OF THE FOUR CROWNS, I managed to see it on the big screen in 3D years back, LOVED it - everyone else walked out.

He's from West Virginia, Roger Anthony Petito as far as I recall. Maybe Spanish or Italian origins, then again all non-native Americans have European roots :)
I recommend BLINDMAN, that's a cool unusual western. Otherwise I'm not really a fan.

I'll check it out, I love his crazy style when I am in the mood for cheap thrills and miscellaneous nonsense.

@ CSM, yeah free, now $2 but a good investment to make.

I want to get my prescription glasses to have Red/Blue lenses (JUST in case)

I'm a huge Leone fan... Awesome stuff Peck!

However, I have a question about the above statement... It sounds like you aren't opposed to spending lots of money (in total) on lots[/] of posters, but that a single expensive poster is somehow a luxury. I'm just curious about that rationale. Have you never considered trading in a bunch of small fish for one BIG one?

Well I'm sure I have a few Big Fish here, but with approx. a hundred thousand stills & posters I have enough trouble on my back :), If I now start to seriousely go for the 'few thousand dollars +' posters, I would have to dedicate my life to it. I rather make films and other projects, 'don't want to become a slave to my addiction (which I am anyway, but with smaller amounts of money one still has the illusion of being in control.). I'm more into photos / lc's anyway, and for $3000.- one can get A LOT of stills :)

I started age 10 back in 1978, growing up at the local movie theater, just like Toto in CINEMA PARADISO,
if you know the film (if not, go and see it, it is a 'must' for Cinema lovers).
Here in Germany the situation has always been different. For instance distributors destroyed most
of the material back in the 60s and 70s to make room for 'new arrivals'. Of the older titles they kept only a minumun,
or nothing at all if the film was put out of distribution. Often they sold the distribution rights two re-release
Distributors who printed their own material and threw away the good old stuff. So some
material is incredible scarce over here and one of the reasons why certain German stuff is not leaving
the country - it is hard to explain to foreigners why certain titles are so expensive (because only few
copies survived. An example: BEAST FROM 20000 FATHOMS. Only 1 poster and 1 (!) lobby card is known!
Warners destroyed everything, in the 50s..)

Here's GIU LA TESTA, great film
