The most relevant comparisons are posters from the same movie with more and less text, like I posted below.

Ok.  You find me another version of a LLD/OHMSS double bill and I'll give full consideration to which has the superior artwork.

Relax, Mel.
You've just attacked a fair few others on this forum saying the above.

But yes, I will post something original (you will notice it is a real poster - not made up using photoshop) so here it is - maybe you should take heed of the first, second, fifth & sixth words:

That's a beaut!!

It's lovely, Jeff.
This is one poster I will be getting linen-backed and de-acidified etc because the colours will be even better!
Best wishes,
Adam

Come on Paul, all other factors being equal, text and blank space significantly detract from the appearance and value of a poster.

Value?
To quote Inigo Montoya: "I do not think it means what you think it means."
Or, should I say, "Who died and left you in charge of value, either aesthetic or monetary?"

+1 for all of us morons.  wynk

Adam... is that Casino Royale a 30x40?  What is the story with that one?

No mate, I do have the 30x40, but this is around 15x25inches - I don't have the exact size at hand ...
... It could be a little bigger though. I'll find the correct measurement after all my work is done and let you know.

Is this OK?

EDIT: On the bottom of the poster there is some text basically saying:
"Get a free full colour reproduction of this poster. Send 50c to ..."

I'll post a close up of the text area after my work is finished, Matt.
Best wishes,
Adam

Is it from England or the US?  It is local ,commercial or put out by the studios?

This is just a quick reply as I'm doing extra work for uni (it's 4:00am here).

It's a US poster.
I think it was from a newspaper or something like that (official promotional material), and to get the full colour version you had to send away for it.
Best wishes,
Adam

While not a film poster, the advert tie in works well, IMO.

One can only agree, especially given my opinion of this artwork as being the best of the modern era of Bond films.

Spent the best part of today trying to ascertain the year of this piece, Matt.
Spoken to many people.
We have settled with the year 1972 due to the UA/Transamerica logo.
It could also be 1975 at a push.

Any further info on this from anyone here would be great!
Best wishes,
Adam

I think so too, that is a jollyfine piece. It maybe 71/72 as it still states "cert" A. I think that stopped sometime in the mid 70's.

I aint too proud to ask another newb question. How/why and what years do we get from the UA/Transamerica logo?

I researched this for years before finding the exact answer! The logo changed in 1968. The last UA poster with the old logo was 68/151, and the first one with the UA Transamerica logo was 68/168 (the numbers in-between were not UA movies).

So ANY poster with the UA Transamerica logo is surely 1968 or later.

Bloody hell Adam.

And so continues the realisation and demonstration that the 'complete-ish' collection (define 'complete') I thought I had is apparently only the beginnings of something.

The US Bond festival poster had a teaser??!  Absolutely never realised this.  Is this another poster as owned by you or an image courtesy of contacts??

As for the Season of Bond quad, there is also a set of 8 FOH cards in the UK.  The eight were made up of a 10x8 version of the above poster and one card each dedicated to the first seven Bond films.  OHMSS did Not showcase Lazenby, rather it showed Savalas and Rigg..

Hey Simes,

Any image I upload is mine, unless I state otherwise.
So, yes, I own that poster.
I also own the FOH set you mention, but will not get round to photographing those until after all posters have been photographed.

I researched this for years before finding the exact answer! The logo changed in 1968. The last UA poster with the old logo was 68/151, and the first one with the UA Transamerica logo was 68/168 (the numbers in-between were not UA movies).

Yes, Bruce, it is definitely after 1968, for sure.

I think so too, that is a jollyfine piece. It maybe 71/72 as it still states "cert" A. I think that stopped sometime in the mid 70's.

Paul, I'm pretty sure it is '72 because of the UA/Transamerica logo and the 'A' logo.

I aint too proud to ask another newb question. How/why and what years do we get from the UA/Transamerica logo?

Zorba, Bruce touched on it there - the logo has changed a few times over the years, with and without the Transamerica part.

Cheers,
Adam

That particular logo stops appearing in 1975.
I think the UA/Transamerica logo stops appearing altogether in 1981.
