Now, now, Bruce, it's nothing to do with the condition of the poster.  It's something in the design, which is probably why it went for so much....

There's nothing wrong with the poster 

The reason it went for that price is because of the missing words, IMO.
Bruce has sold, I think, only one of these before.

anyways as iv never had one of these in hand it says trimmed now measures 30x40.. shouldnt this poster measure 30x40 in the 1st place?

I was thinking that too, but let it pass... a digital watermark has nothing to do with the condition of a poster. I like Bruces double meaning humour tho.

Anyway, I received the below today:

Condition is about right (as per description in the auction).
This poster is yet another example of when a piece looks better in person.

And why is the tagline "Sean Connery is James Bond" missing from the Emovie B2?

I knew that was what you were driving at, but didn't want to spoil your game.

We noticed the same thing, and so we contacted Bond experts and Japanese poster experts, and all either responded "Both are original" or "Don't know".

No, I didn't mate.
I couldn't justify over £600 for DCs that I have seen come up for sale on three or four occasions in the last two years.
The quad, on the other hand, I have personally never seen come up for sale.
I am sure it was one person who won all 4 of the DCs.
I pipped that same person to the quad - to be honest, I was actually very surprised it didn't go for more!
My max bid was a bit more than £421!

I don't know the definite answers to those questions, but to echo Bruce's comments - I said it is probably an original; the only thing that is missing are the words 'Sean Connery Is James Bond'.

Sean Connery is James Bond only appeared on first release posters. After that Connery didn't want his name, and the suggestion that he IS James Bond on the posters, as by then a different actor was playing the part. So it is quite often missing on re-release posters. Some  first release Quads that were re-used for re-releases had a sticker placed over the IS so it read Connery AS James Bond. Which was a compromise, Connery and the studios came too, when the films were re-issued.

Yeah, Connery's decision not to be associated solely with the Bond franchise is something fairly well-known in Bond circles, but for me this poster is difficult because it is pretty much exactly the same as the true, original release as it were, so if this is a re-release then it must be a very early one ... Do you know what the exact date is, Paul? Would it potentially be late '60s?

Oh right, I see the problem. It looks first release to me, bar the missing Connery tag.... I'm not a betting Man, but I would bet on it being  first release. The UA logo changed in 68 and I cannot see them re-releaseing it again 6 months later...

The dating system Armin has on his site for Japanese posters would confirm this....the poster is using Showa which means 42=67

Scoular In Suspected Suicide

British actress Angela Scoular died after allegedly drinking poisonous chemicals in a suspected suicide attempt, according to a U.K. report.

The wife of comedian Leslie Phillips was taken to hospital on Monday after paramedics were called to deal with an emergency at the couple's London home. Doctors were unable to save her and she was later pronounced dead.

Police are treating her death as "unexplained" and detectives are currently investigating.

Reports suggest the former Bond girl, 65, who had been suffering from bowel cancer, took her own life by ingesting toxic chemicals, while Carry On star Phillips admits his wife was struggling to deal with her illness.

He tells Britain's Daily Mail, "I didn't know she was going to take her own life. I suspected that it was a possibility because she had gone under, into this deep sadness. She had had a ghastly time.

"She never got free of the illness. I felt very sorry for her. Other illnesses had started to creep in. After three years of cancer she was always getting something else.

"She did her best but it got her down. Cancer takes you to the lowest places. It's a very tough thing to live with. She was weakened by the cancer and then depressed, deeply depressed. She was all over the place." »
