We talked about the color of this French Dr. No 47x63in poster somewhere, but I can't remember where, so I'll post it here for future reference.

This poster by Boris Grinsson was printed in 3 different color, a very common blue, a more difficult to find purple, and a rare red.  It was later re-released in blue.

I couldn't figure out if the poster was purple or red on EBay, so I took a leap of faith.  I didn't want to ask the seller and make him think that there was a difference in color and price.  HA has sold a bunch of purple ones, but they all kind of look purple/redish online (prob a result of over contrast).  Hard to tell.  Even after receiving it, I still couldn't tell, so I had to compare it to the purple.  It is indeed the red, which never shows up for auction and a real bargain :)  I already own the red poster, but mine (which cost me twice as much as this one 10 years ago) is not in the condition I like my posters to be, and this one is perfect.

Spot on.  Glad it is as was thought.  And that I am not as colour blind as was thinking.

Was discussed in Mid Auction....

Congrats T.

Well the article writer does indeed have serious Bond credentials, his argument would get a "C" in law school:

Is it really a stretch of anyone’s imagination to think that, right now, in real life, there’s a handsome, suave and altogether lethal black Brit walking around London, or some exotic den of international intrigue, who’s carrying a Walther PPK and works for MI6?

Wouldn’t it be more surprising — and perhaps worrisome — if there weren’t?

Arguing against this, traditionalists counter that from the very first Bond novel, “Casino Royale” in 1953, Fleming described 007 as a white Englishman, with a Scottish father and a Swiss mother, who went to the ultra-tony Fettes boarding school after having been kicked out of the even tonier Eton. To which I’d respond: Perhaps you guys haven’t noticed, but the films are not locked in the amber of 1953. They’ve changed and adapted to reflect the times — Daniel Craig’s 007 would be lost without his cellphone.

And surely the Bond producers will consider the "Wrinkle In Time" debacle. Disney hired a minority director who transformed a charming, eccentric European Christian book into a diversity/New Age spirituality promotional vehicle. It got mediocre reviews and made $130 million, woefully short of the $400 million needed to turn a profit:

I'm droning on obviously, but IMO they do need to (1) makes "Bond universe" films with prominent female/minority stars and/or (2) make Bond the lead actor in a British intelligence team film.

I believe Universe films are a fad that, like most fads, will go away once people have had their fill.

And, so long as we can consider a white Shaft and a female Han Solo, surely.... (sarcasm)

Doubt it.

Bond is family owned.  The Universes are studio owned.

Sundance, that Goldfinger towel turned up on eBay some years ago. It would make a nice wall hanging.

Congrats on Modesty Blaise. Great condition, too!

So happy Danny Boyle is out.  Not a big fan and I always felt he was wrong for the project.

My Dinner with 007?  Inconceivable!

Hmmmm? Maybe that wasn't as original as I initially blurted out?!

Something for here and the August Acquisitions threads.  Not of general interest for the masses, to be sure.

My collection is finely tuned to specific areas but does expand to variations within.  Hence these two posters that I had no idea even existed until very recently.  To wit, Piracy posters Without the FACT logos.

Gosh, I hear you say!

As distinct from these that I already had.  Bizarrely the Skyfall poster has a URL for Ireland...?!
