Hey, Simon. The GG quad is, shall we say, different. I've never seen one but it's definitely rare. Of the 3 SPY 1-sheets, I think the red and blue variation is the most attractive. What puzzles me is why would UA or Broccoli would change it, unless it was a test run and somebody either approved or disapproved it. A rare curiosity for sure.
If your friend with the OHMSS insert is serious, He'll have a hard time finding a Dalton insert, since inserts for the Bonds ended with AVTAK. Perhaps a daybill could fill in?

Thanks Bob.  Yup, I was wondering why I was having difficulty finding an image of a TLD Insert, so sure was I that they Had produced one for Dalton's first film.

My Spy 1 sheet arrived.  My shot as opposed HA's.

That's a killer story... serendipity at it's finest.

Congratulations again, buddy.

This one might be a little more interesting.

You do this for long enough, time says you've seen all the variations and idiosyncrasies of a particular poster design.  Well, a post on this forum lead me to Wolfgang's Kino poster site and there was a Spy 1 Sheet poster that had been sold, the image of which remained though.

It showcased an alternate type and colour for the tag line at the top of the poster.  I was obviously aware of the fully red one, had relatively recently been introduced via Adam's site to the all blue one (and subsequently acquired), but this was red and blue in the same font as the all blue version.

A search in the Heritage and emp archives informed me that they had both never sold one...!

An email to Wolfgang got me the email address of the chap who bought it together with the information that he too, Wolfgang, had never noticed the difference.  Emailing the buyer elicited no response.  The poster itself was in fairly used and abused condition, but nonetheless...

Thinking I had come across something that would Never again be sold, I settled into a feeling of resignation.  ...Until the very following week when Heritage popped up a mint and rolled version of the very same poster!  Not sure anyone else noticed either (at least, of those who were in the market.  A friend did also bring it to my attention) as it went for a reasonable price for a rolled 70's 1 Sheet.

Below the poster and the variations.  The red and blue strip is blown up from the Heritage image, not something I took, hence the pixelated artefacts.

You've made Mr. Firuta proud, Simon. Is the blue & red version printed on heavier paper than normal?

Really?

Nope.  Same weight.  Glossy.  All lovely.

Yes, really. He paid next to nothing for it so whatever he gets for it is gravy.

I contend that it was a test pressing to see how it would look with the art, credits, etc. This is sometimes done on heavier stock so it can be sent rolled to whoever would approve or reject it. Either way, it's a nice addition to the collection.

While not poster related, I made the pilgrimage to Piz Gloria of OHMSS fame and wrote up some words.

These have been popped up with photos on the below site.

Just an FYI... The eBay account you linked to belongs to Egbert.  If they are the only seller with this specific rare variant -- that may tell you something.  Buyer beware.

Ah.  Does he have multiple accounts then?  I did think I had got his removed from my search criteria.

No wonder he has two of 'em then!

Thanks Matt.  Will now ensure to remove that ID also.

And he has already dropped the price from $350 to $245!  And while the poster looks rolled, as was the one from Heritage, he is advertising his copies as folded...  Oh well.

Something for here and the May Acquisitions thread.

These two posters were sitting around on eBay, unloved and unnoticed.  An awful film but I always did like the poster art (and the title theme, if I am honest).  A slight exception would be the white(r) poster with the left-handed held gun!  An image that did exist in right-hand form, if only briefly for a folder cover, advertising MGM's wares for the Fall films.  Bus shelter posters, to boot, which is not normally my thing.

Sundance, that's a mighty fine copy of the MWTGG advance! Is it linenbacked? I have seen this poster at least once in rolled, unfolded condition but it's a rare beast. That slick glossy paper is murder on the foldlines.

It was indeed a linen backed poster.

And Lord, what a price it achieved...

Bonham's July 18. McGinness's unused. presumably preliminary concept art.

Oh, we're to po' for this. With commissions, the low estimate is $30K:

This is a 'new' concept to me, and maybe others.

Not seen this one before.

Thanks.

Hey Simes, in looking at that earlier concept and the final, I wonder if produceers wanted this aspect changed, as it might have been a little too suggestive or "on the nose," as the case may be.  ;)   dontknow.gif

Yes.   ;D  ;D

I did wonder the same.

It reminded me of this photo of Brosnan whereby he holds a silenced gun pointing directly down between his slightly spread legs.  Not sure why that one was ever released.

Snagged this, for 1st time I think. Apropos bc Trump yesterday illegitimately "created" the United States Space Force (only Congress can do that).

Funny, Moore once admitted he liked the "posh" lifestyle:

Whizzin' by the haters! [i.e. linen haters]

It's in "awesome fine condition"!  bed1

No, not me. I got this plus two equal Conneries for $1000 in a small auction several years ago.

It went for £27,500 inc premiums.
