Hi all,

Over the past few months I've been lucky enough to have gotten to know Sim Branaghan, the author of the absolutely essential book 'British Film Posters: An Illustrated History'. Towards the end of last year I sat down with Sim and interviewed him to hear the story behind the making of the book, how he got into collecting, what he thinks of the hobby today and much more.

I know some of you are also acquainted with Sim and would agree that the book deserved more of a push around its release. My hope is that more folks will read this article and decide to pick up a copy of the book. If you have even a passing interest in UK posters (or the hobby in general) it truly deserves a spot on your shelf.

I hope you will find it as interesting to read as I did interviewing Sim.

The link to the article is here.

Check out these pics of Sim when he was 13 (1980) and of his bedroom circa 1992:

Another great interview, Ed.
I need to get Sim's book as soon as I can rustle up the extra dough.
As a Putzu fan, I would like to read more about the Italian artists who contributed to the British film poster industry.
Must've been a fascinating time...
 cheers

You're very welcome fellas.

Ted, I'd also love to read a book on the Italian artists working in the UK. Now if we can only persuade Sim...  whip

I had a similar bedroom in '90-'92 (including the ceiling), only with mainly US posters...  My favorite was The Howling one sheet on the ceiling...

Thanks for the pics and info...

I am embarrassed to say that I had never heard of this book until late last year, when I was exchanging some emails with Sim (and he was kind enough not to chastise me for not owning a copy) over our mutual love of Godzilla. As soon as I learned of it I ordered a copy.
Wonderful book and the author is a very nice chap.

Great interview

Yes, an exceptional book, definitely the most scholarly examination of the poster business ever published. I certainly appreciated quads and British poster artists more after reading it.
