I'm looking forward to this one, a very interesting story full of possibilities.  Very atypical of Hollywood!  laugh

Unfortunately, the trailer left me thoroughly uninspired.  A shame because I thought this had potential...

I read the books as a kid and hoped someday to see it on the big screen.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I love E.R.B books and John Carter was/is a hero, would love to see a good adaptation.

You Ari, are the only one in the whole world I like that eats offal, misses his dead rat carcasses, draws women on walls with skin peeling off of them and keeps a meat cleaver by his bed.

Yah.
I grew up reading the Mars, Pellucidar and Tarzan series.
I do wish they would've named this adaptation, John Carter Warlord of Mars.
As it stands, it sounds like a name from the phone book.

I think it looks in a word: goofy. I can't see it doing justice for the book/books it's based on. Personally I haven't read them (but I asked for them for Christmas  Tongue ) yet. I will!

But Andrew Stanton's resume speaks for itself! The guy is great! I have faith that he will make a good movie.
I'm sure Taylor Kitsch will do a fine job, he's a decent enough actor.

Have to say that I enjoyed the first trailer a ton more than this new one.
When Willem Dafoe does that speech at the end of the first one:
"When I saw you I believed it was a sign, that something new can come into this world."

That was soooo cool! Hearing his voice associated with one of the aliens kind of obliterated the enjoyment of that line though.  Cry Just doesn't seem to fit.

Either way still going to watch it with what I hope will be neutral feeling going in.

Only just caught up with this... and it looks fan'bloody'tastic (in an atypical Hollywood style as jaxlax says). If I had to go out on a limb (without any googling) I'd say the special effects are done by IL&M or someone who's watched 'Phantom Menace' and that big blue alien planet movie type thing 'Avatar' far too much!

I've seen various teaser posters around but never understood what the film was about, plus they didn't do the film/trailers justice. I'd agree with Brude on the title, if it had been called 'John Carter Warlord of Mars' and highlighted the original author as Edgar Rice Burroughs prominently I'd have been all over it.

Another thing that puts me off a film is if it's done by Disney... seem to recall them having some strange censorship rules and particular liking of religion (more knowledgeable people could put me right on this tho). I wonder how close it is to the original story!
