Well "the cat's out of the bag" on this ET concept art - 30 watchers and up to $338, ends in 14 hours:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/181420321740

If you're an ET fanatic, you need to "go long" on this 27x41 "concept" poster straight from BD Fox & Friends advertising agency.  This is a printed poster, not "assembled" from various cutouts.

The seller told me it "used to hang in the Lusasfilm Industrial Light & Magic Creature Shop."

Is "flat mounted" the same as "dry mounted," to that gator board backing, I wonder?  :-\

had a try at it myself...was watching it before this was posted.  Sniping it was probably going to be impossible before, definitely impossible now.  So, I went ahead and made my contribution.  I might go all mad max on it, but too many expenses right now.  Moving.....

That's a keeper. Hopefully someone on here with a huge Spielberg collection snagged it.

Nope.  I wasn't going to bid.  Then I woke up to feed my kids and suddenly changed my mind.  I guess I thought it'd be cool to have.  Maybe it was the Alien.  I don't consider those movie posters, since they were never printed and basically didn't make the cut.  Not good enough.  But I bid anyway and was the under bidder.  Oh well, no damage done.

That's a shame you missed it. It is strange people never out auctions they intend to bid on though isn't it?

I actually think these kinds of posters are far more interesting than say, Mondo prints. To me they have more relevance because they were part of the creative process at the time the films production. Having said that Video posters have more relevance to me than Mondo prints, because of the connection to the marketing process. That's probably just me though.

I was watching this auction for days and quietly cursed Mel when he outed it.

Ha-ha. Well I distinctly recall visiting a certain London collector and specifically recall said collector's wife "quietly cursing" her husband's collecting and decorating habits  8)

And IMHO $2,500 is not a bad price for this.  Pretty sure you could "flip" this on Cinemasterpieces for $10K and it would sell within a year.

I bet anything I would have gotten much more. Sometimes Mark "pays too much" (whatever that means), but this time he got a great deal, in my estimation.

After than ET concept poster fetched $2,500, where can we dig to find more concept posters that were trashed? Like they found the ET video games:

Here is my personal collection of concept art for the movie Tremors. They were done in pencil, paint and charcoal. Some of the blacks showed up as red in the photos. I believe they were originally sold by the artist for $45 and I bought them from a private collector for $120.

They measure 10½" x 14". I'd like to frame them and put them around the original one sheet I have but I worry if having plexi directly on top of them would effect either the charcoal or pencil. And if I mat them I worry about that smudging the boarders.

I'm glad someone else considers Tremors to be a classic, I loved this movie and had tapes and copies of the tapes because I would wear them out, it was my first LaserDisc and my first DVD.

Since those are charcoal and/or pencil, (if they were mine), I would, for sure, get them framed, and placed under UV plexi. The thing to do with these, and because each one looks to have a rather wide, blank border around the artwork, would be to have your framer cut a mat with the opening slightly larger than the images/signature- maybe a 1/4" or so, all the way around.

That way, the mat isnt pressing or directly touching the artwork, won't smudge it, and will also act as a layer that keeps the plexi directly off of the art. Plus you will see the signatures, too.

Again, that series of drawings is just very cool!  thumbup

Thanks, I'll be doing that eventually than.

Oh did anyone save Mel's retouched E.T. image. I'd love to see that.
