As posted on MOPO, here is an article by Jay Allen Sanford of the San Diego reader:

Famous Movie Poster Rejects You've Never Seen (Exclusive) Pt. 1

I'm prepping a Reader feature called Famous Movie Poster Rejects You've Never Seen, with scans of an incredible collection of original artwork and proof prints that I once archived for a client.

The collection includes over a hundred HUGE paintings and proofs, by a variety of well-known Hollywood poster artists, done in advance for the filmmakers behind Batman, the Fly, Witches of Eastwick, and a bunch of other biggies (as well as some not-so-biggies nonetheless of interest). Most of these are the REJECTED versions, although several sets include the actual final artwork, as photographed for the official posters.....

Thierry mentioned that many unused concept posters were much better than the final versions.  Some of the Supergirl unused concept posters are much better IMHO:

And I have a section of MPC devoted to unused concept art as well.

By the way, I sent an email to the author and he replied that the series will only continue if enough people show interest by leaving comments, so he asked me to leave a comment, so I did.

I encourage y'all to register here and leave a comment as well.

It is a stunning image looking it at close range, Chris. Too bad I sold this some time ago...  Sad

This belongs in this thread.  When asked why this Struzan poster was not used, the studio exec reportedly stated that it looks too much like art.

I know the studios run all sorts of demographics, but it's a crime that Druzan's PAN was not used in wide distribution.

Great stuff Mel,me thinks i will be buying books over the next few weeks...

I cant help but feel that Hammer seemed to default to tits and blood for the majority of posters...not that that`s  a bad thing evidently (except for the blood thing i guess).
A general lack of imagination i would say..........
