L.A. Confidential Canadian one sheet

Not really an authentication but an insider sent me some very interesting pics of and information about the LA Confidential "Canadian" poster.  As these pics of a proof reveal, it was labeled as "International 1 Sheet #2."

You can read some of the proof artist's comments such as "there is some shade and color in her cloak that needs to be visible." This was NOT corrected in my copy - the cloak is very dark.

Very interesting Mel. Is it possible to make out whether there is an Alliance Atlantis logo at the bottom of the proof image?

The picture is too fuzzy to see any detail in the credits & text.

So how much is the proof with all the notations worth?

The seller is looking to sell his clean copy.  Hard to say what the marked-up version would go for.  The conventional answer is that the notations - like signatures - would detract from the value.  But the notations give a unique "history" to the poster that you don't normally see.

Great bits of info on one of the more seminal rare favs of poster forum land.  Very interesting.

I do prefer the video poster by far, I think it should have been the one sheet, its incredible...but wouldn't mind scoring one of these on rarity grounds alone.

I bet they recognized their mistake so they used the international one sheet art (Basinger in daylight in dress) for the video poster. I still think the second international poster (Basinger at night wearing cloak) is very cool too.

I'm starting to think the second international one sheet was never released to theaters in Canada or anywhere. The one I got recently was found in an LA poster store.

OK, here's the Polish one sheet poster, pretty much proving that this was never the "Canadian" one sheet.  It was always a second international one sheet.

But doesn't your poster have the Alliance Atlantis logo on it Mel - evidence of a Canadian printing?

I think Mel means this image was not made strictly for the Canadian market.

Im kinda lost,.. if someone could bring me upto speed, preferably Mel or Mark.
What is the gripe regards this poster...?
The credits can be clearly compared if you filp flop both images...
The marked up version has the the note of "change billing to match (ineligible) 422"
This note refers to "Music By Jerry Goldsmith", on both versions, this was not done.
There is clearly an Alliance Atlantis on Mels poster going by his website photos.. on this proof version,it could be argued there is also a very indistinct Alliance Atlantis logo too...
Can someone please explain for the very hard of learning(like me) what this debate is all about??

Yeah I just meant it was not designed specifically for the Canadian market.  Maybe certain countries like Canada and Poland got the conservative "night" design but most countries got the risqué "day" version.

I don't think that Dan ever claimed that it was.  The 'Canadian' designation was more of a nickname than anything else...
