Great months in movie history

The last version of The Thing is a major flop, but I really liked it, so I was checking Carpenter's own BO, which was also dismal, and found that these 4 movies came out in June 1982.

6/4/1982 - Poltergeist - (total BO: 76.6 mil.)
6/11/1982 - ET The Extra Terrestrial - (359.2 mil.)
6/25/1982 - Blade Runner - (27.5 mil.)
6/25/1982 - The Thing - (13.7 mil.)

Oh, and also...

6/18/1982 - Firefox - (46.7 mil.)

I can't remember the last time I saw 4 great movies in a month.  Certainly not in the summer, that's for sure.

Interesting data, T.
I knew Carpenter's THING was a BO failure, but he really got steam-rolled.
I saw all four films opening night and I distinctly remember how empty the theater was for THE THING.
After JAWS, didn't it become virtual suicide to open the same month as Spielberg?
