Ok, that makes sense the US to CA shipping will hurt every time.. As for HPF vs Michaels .. HPF is FAR superior!! The larger frames from Michael's have this thin/flimsy high gloss cheap plastic, this flimsy metal frames and have cardboard or wood pulp sheets as a backing .. So I spend extra when i pick up acid free backing and put up with the cheap plastic and flimsy frame. They end up running me about $30 for a 24x36 .. Now that I have 20+ Michaels frames and 2 HPF's and wish I had spent a little more and gotten all HPF's :(

But that is pushing me to learn to make my own frames so that I can use all sorts of different frames/materials :)

So it does average out to $110 for an economy frame. So I want to confirm, are they (the ECONOMY frames) going to be a lot superior to those crappy Michaels frames.
I do need it to be stored in there long term too.

I've had Sue send me a frame for a one sheet here in Canada.  Shipping was a bundle too - $69 for one frame I think?  But there is nowhere else to get an archival frame in Canada and I can assure you Sue uses good quality materials that a much better than Michaels. 

If you are looking for smaller frames (like insert or daybill sized) - I have several frames from Americanframe.com and they are really nice.  Shipping was (I believe) $50 or so for two plus $80 for each frame.

Please do not buy Michael's economy frames.  I bought about $400 of them and had to throw all of them away.  The foam sides started crumbling and little bits of crapola would get all over the posters when displayed.

I'm also less than happy with some of my Spotlight frames nowadays.  The clamps have too much pressure and can quickly permanently warp the poster.  However, the pressure is inconsistent, so some frames are fine.  Also, Spotlight now gives you thicker plexiglass, so it's less of a problem

So in the end, I'd go with HPF.

No, as I said in my post below, I have issues with them but they are definitely the best bet for x-large frames.

I would say nay on the cheap $30.00 Michaels frames as well. I had some for my art prints and they were a disaster.

I have not had any issues with any of my Spotlight Display frames and I have around 24 of them all different sizes.

I don't own any from HPF, so I can't offer anything good or bad about them.

I will be going to HPF for the smaller posters 30x40 and under. But I will use the economy frames. If anyone has anymore input on the economy frames before I purchase, please let me know.

For spotlight Displays. How do you hang the larger frames?

Would humidity, temperature and sunlight have anything to do with your issues?

My frames are in my basement where it is pretty much a constant 70 degrees year round with no sunlight at all.

They all hang the same. They send you anchors with predrilled holes on the backside of the frames. I buy metal screw in anchors from Home Depot or Lowes. The frames mount flush to the wall so the frames are not hanging from a nail or screw.

Well guys, got the frames a couple of days ago.
They are the economy ones. So I put some less expensive posters in that were already available. Instead of searching through my collection and deciding. I will do that next time and get measurements correct and order the archival ones instead for next time.

the only draw back is the shipping like I had said.
I have worked it out. and it will average out to $125 Per economy frame.

most non-glare plexi is "frosted" or dimpled.
these issues make looking at the poster from anyplace except straight on opaque

I'd agree but do wonder why people say no to none glare, anyone?

I've just received from HPF my first order of frames, four daybill frames (archival, plexi and mats, FYI: average price landed $178) and one of them I got as none glare to see the main difference, I think the non glare is the way to go for me in the future too.

I would get non-glare. Glare frames are very annoying during the day or bright light.

I like spotlight display's dual plexiglass - one side is glare the other is nonglare.

Also americanframe.com for that matter...

 Mike,  I currently have about 45 HP non-glare frames on display.  I am very happy about my decision. I cannot stand glare reflections in standard plastic frames.
