I am really looking forward to "The Wolfman" remake. This WILL get me going back to the cinema. The big hope is, if it's a success Universal may do a Frankenstein remake also. The chance of a modern remake of Frankenstein, was Killed off by the impossibly awful De Niro film of the 90's.

Anyone have any of the posters for The Wolfman yet?

Paul, that's great news about a quality remake of Frankenstein.

I do have the Wolfman posters.  The one with the face of the Wolfman is really menacing and cool.  (I bet they'd be even cooler in a lightbox.)

I'm a fan of American Werewolf in London too.  Everytime I'm in the DC subway system late at night I'm reminded of the scene where the wolf chases the victim in the deserted London subway system.

I don't collect may modern posters, but these I will be looking for now. That Wolfman baying at the moon is top of the list, official release or not.

I am a huge Universal horror fan, it's my main area of collecting. Unfortunatly most prices are sky high for quality items.

"Hunchback Of Notre Dame" was technically the first (1923), but "Dracula" & "Frankenstein" (both 1931) were the ones that made Universal horror

Yeah, Wolf Man wasn't until 1941... which was actually kind of later in the game.

One of the top films has to be Bride of Frankenstein, closely followed by Son of Frankenstein; but if you have never seen any of the Uni Frankensteins, I would watch them in the order they were released. Universal made so many great films ( IMO ) in the 30's and 40's my list would be quite a length. But ask any horror fan to name their all time favorte, and "Bride" would be top of the list.

I have Wolfman sets in the house! Finals will be on hand late next week.

This movie has been kicked around on the release schedule awhile, that normally does not bode well.

Yeah, I'm worried about that as well.  I remember seeing a trailer (for what looked like a completed movie) nearly a year ago now.  I'm guessing there must have been some re-working...  Undecided

There was quite a bit of re-shooting, I think it was weather the wolfman should walk on two, or four legs? and then Universal did'nt want to release it near Twilight 2 release.

I have seen two different trailers, and they both looked very good, real period pieces and quite true to the original 1941 Wolfman, with some modern filming. I do have high hopes for this film, and hope it's not a let down like the Mummy films. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy them it's just not the Mummy I or any Universal monster fan wanted.  Though a special edition of the 1941 Wolfman is due out to coinside with the release of the new film, and is supposed to have some new extras on the disc. Here's hopeing.

I have been looking forward to this one since the day I saw the first trailer ages ago.

I still question the Feb 10 (four days before Valentine's day) release date.  Just does not seem right.

'Bride' tops my list, closely followed by 'Frankenstein'. 'Dracula' of the same period has not aged so well. There is also a lot of fun to be had with the cycle towards the end of the Universals, namely 'Frankenstein meets the wolfman', 'House of Frankenstein', and 'House of Dracula'. All of them are totally nutty, and if I remember rightly, Lon  Chaney Jnr gets 'cured' at the end of one of them. Actually those three would make a fantastic triple bill, with more laughs than anything in 'Young Frankenstein'.

Carson, we're still waiting to hear about your Universal horror viewing...what you watched and what you liked/disliked.  If you are still in the mood, you should pick up The Invisible Man, also directed by James Whale (Frankenstein, Bride, Old Dark House).  It is still one of the most amazing films of it's time and a very important "monster" in the Universal stable.  Great SPFX, twisted humor and an over-the-top performance by Claude Rains.

I would also like to recommend Paramount's 1932 Island of Lost Souls, with Charles Laughton as the mad scientist Moreau.  It has more monsters and weirdness than you can shake a stick at.

Well I have humed and harred over weather to go to the pictures to see this (Wolfman) over the last couple of days. As I have just found out the film has been cut by 17 mins!!!! but will be released as a full "Directors cut" on dvd. WHY, what do they think they will gain by this?

I may still go this coming week, but things like this are so annoying.

^ I have to agree 100%. That is very annoying. The reason they do that is so they will sell more DVDs. DVD sales have gone down, and studios are looking for ways to get people to buy more DVDs. One thing they have done is with rentals, they strip them of special features and have less options such as not being able to skip stuff. Now it looks like they are doing this with stuff in the movie theater. They will cut the theatrical release in length, and then issue it the way it was intended on the DVD release. They are also trying to cash in by releasing a lot more movies in 3D that normally weren't going to be in 3D but now are because of Avatar's success.

I am desperately looking for a Steven Spielberg signed letter (especially with Schindler's List content). If you have one I will make you an offer you can't refuse.

You guys should have seen the test posters Universal was planning for Wolfman. I was contacted by Universal about four or five months ago to give my thoughts on their posters they were planning, ugh, they were pretty bad especially one that was just downright awful. I gave them my input and thoughts on all eight styles that were shown to me. They all had the moody appearance the advance styles had, one wasn't bad, but overall they just didn't do it for me. Still, I may check out the film, it does look pretty good.

Did they implement your thoughts? Smiley I like the Wolfman design advanced very much and regular isnīt bad too.
