Aside from the handful of U.S. one sheets already on my wish list, I've been searching for a couple months now and haven't found any new U.S. one sheets that I like or that I'm willing to pay huge sums for. I'm wondering at what point has one seen them all? Bear in in mind, I'm a 70's and newer poster collector.

The last time I bought a one sheet, or something near that size, was 5/4/10 during one of Bruce's major/mini auction thingy's, I think.

The ones I collect don't come up for sale very often, but Bruce's archive images show a lot of tasty ones that I wonder where they are now...........................

Because I collect from any era, I find poster designs that I want literally every time I log on. So, my want list grows everyday.

I'm the same as Ted, I collect from every Era, Genre, Size, and Style. I even buy posters of films I've never seen if I like the poster, so there is always something of interest. Hence I'm always Skint....

Same here. I also have zero bias that way, so It usually take me about 5 seconds to find something new I like. Its hard not to pick up a pen and add the crap to my want list which after being pared down considerably, is still far too big for my budgetary constraints.

I was a weekly buyer for sure which is easy for a newbie. But I am now a quarterly buyer since my hiatus started. I hope I can resist the temptation of all the great auctions coming up. My collecting strategy is ever evolving. But at this moment I want to get organized and start framing some of my purchases. I would say that I am up to about thirty posters that I want to hang. I think I would like to get to the point where I can justify a couple of big purchases. After the last sig auction, my wife showed an interest in the Wasp Woman which was about a 2k+ poster. So I guess, it comes down to would I rather have 20 one hundred dollar posters which I could easily due over a three month period, or by one expensive but very collectible poster. Brian

Brian, I think when your wife points out that poster it's just a metaphor that "she has you in her clutches"

My wish list is long enough. It will be a long while before I can get close to checking them all off.

Question: What's the longest you've gone without finding any new posters you like?
Answer: A few hours.

Well I am actually starting to get bored with the regular stuff. It is not exciting much to me. All you need is the money to buy. What really excites me now is stuff that I've never seen before. Like I just ordered a Stargate Locandina and a Great Expectations Italian 4P entitled Pradiso Perduto (Paradise Lost). I've never seen these before and they make me very excited....

International posters are the only posters that really excite me nowadays.
I'm bored with US posters.

Then you'd wet yourself over the 130 or so I picked up the other day from a former picture theatre employee (mainly from the 80s and early 90s) not to mention the near 150 Aust. Daybills all from the 60s and 70s I got from another former employee of a now defunct picture theatre. My wife is not happy! I hate the fact I am on auction site databases so I get a regular newsletter...I have a large list of want posters and they are always telling me they have what I want just waiting for me...dammit. On a totally unrelated matter, but I have to ask the obvious, as I am new here I probably get one idiot question. Your signature, ""Wishing you the best of luck with All Poster Forum and in encouraging others to appreciate the magical art of film posters" - Martin Scorsese (2009)" Ummm it's exactly the same signature as being used at MP Forum by someone by the name of Goodfella with the exception the Forum name is different - am I missing something or does Mr. Scorsese splash around best wishes like cheap aftershave?

Since you're new here, David, I will let you in on a little secret... Martin Scorsese never wrote this. A lot of our members are disgruntled members of another forum who jumped ship because of the owner's mercantile attitude. I won't go further into it, but basically that owner runs a movie forum to make money and bans anyone who dares disagreeing with him. Holiday and I had enough and decided to create an ad free forum just for collectors like yourself. We pay for it, members have freedom of expression and everyone seems happy. As a result, the other forum is dead and we are thriving. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to understand why. Now, the joke is that the owner of the other forum sent a link to his forum to Martin Scorsese's offices and got Scorsese's 3rd assistant, or maybe 4th , to send him back a note with the above. It gave him such a boner that he can't stop himself from posting it. In turn, I found it so ridiculous that I decided to make it mine and incorporate it to my signature. There, in a nutshell, you have it all. T.

Unfortunately, I don't wet myself anymore on 80s posters. I used to, for the longest time, since I grew up in that era and those movies are great memories, but I've amassed enough gear to let it go (you can see my collection in my signature.) Trust me, I had a lot of fun collecting it. As far as Daybills, I don't collect them (too small for my taste), but we have a few Daybills fanatics on this forum (like CSM/Chris and Vesna) who will probably get your address, pay you a visit and make you an offer you can't refuse. Indeed a nice collection. Of the internationals there's only a few I like and will keep, similarly the Daybills. Seems like word gets out and people ring and offer me posters, and being the collector I am I grab them! Collector v Hoarder...it's a fine line!

#1.. how long in between? hey.. I didn't buy posters for 10 years once
#2 while I don't want to directly refute Thierry, I must make a clrification to his statement about MPF: Thierry and some others "believe" that the Scorcese "letter" is a phony, but in reality - no one knows for sure except Andy (Goodfella). So it would really be proper for Theirry and whomever else to say "we don't believe the quote comes from a real letter" which is very different from "it isn't a real letter"
absolutes are fine.. when you have actual proof in hand to be able to refute absolutely
#3 if someone in Scorcese's office sends a letter with Scorcese's acquiesence, it is the same as Scorcese sending the letter
carry on.... and don't forget my all International Poster auction going on right now you flubbers

Much easier when the wife likes the odd poster too. My wife wants a Breakfast at Tiffany's 1-sheet so we can frame it, so that means I use any other auction buys as a 'warming up' for her poster when one comes up!
