I received a poster today that despite asking the seller if there "was any tape on it" and the seller saying "no", it arrived with 4 pieces of clear masking tape on the back. Ugh. Is there a way to remove this easily without damaging the poster?

Wether i would go thru all the expense or hassle depends on the poster...but if it was me,the seller has mis-sold,or mis-represented what you bought..i would demand a refund...

The problem is that poster is pretty rare. I told him I was considering filing a claim or might accept a partial refund. The jury is still out, but here's the poster:

The answer that the seller gave seemed to be very dismissive..and for me his description is quite offensive..

I would have moved on until i found the next `not in great shape poster`...

Just my opinion..

The seller just offered a refund. I will be returning since I probably paid too much for it to begin with.

In answer to your question - you need Bestine (if you can find it).

I know Bestine should work on tape residue, but I took choptops original post to mean there was nice spanking new clear tape still attached to the poster.
You still use bestine to get the tape off?

Well in all honesty Ves, the real and safest answer is "you need to send it to a professional" Wink

But I think Bestine would work too...afterall sticky tape is sticky tape and residue is really just left over tape (be it new or old).

Lighter fluid gets of tape and gets rid of the residue. I have used it myself on a couple of occasions. The trick is slow and steady, you think you are damaging the poster, but the bit of hard plastic peels off as the fluid dissolves the glue, and the liquid vaps right off leaving nothing.  Try it on a crap poster first, you'll be surprised how easy it is.  Oh, and do it on a flat non-porous surface.

yeah I've done it before, go slow and its easy.
But I do think you paid too much for that, I'd go for a foreign poster on this title. US often doesn't "get" these films in their artwork.Great movie by the way.

You Ari, are the only one in the whole world I like that eats offal, misses his dead rat carcasses, draws women on walls with skin peeling off of them and keeps a meat cleaver by his bed.
