Here's one of my favorites not sure if I have shared before.  A depression-era silkscreen Lincoln poster by Paul Mann, created for the buckeye state building and loan company in Ohio.  Its on a sort of old kraft paper with some foxing here and there. I should take pics without the poly sleeve as the colors really pop.

Really cool piece, Vick. And I'm a buckeye guy, originally, too. :)

Did Mann sign that poster anywhere?

He did not, but I bought it 3 years ago after just missing out on another almost identical that had the signature.  The seller said he had sold 4 or 5, some were signed and some not, but clearly all more or less identical.  I'll take decent pics tomorrow, I believe its all spot on and definitely an aged piece.  I remember almost tearing right through it when I got it thinking it was outside kraft paper wrapping...

how come all the good stuff comes from/ends up in Ohio?

I don't know it seems I've bought a disproportionate number of posters from Ohio over the years...maybe its just my perception.  Aren't the american pickers guys also based in Ohio?

This is my last purple poster (sort of) although if you look at it really closely it would also work in the Rectangle Posters thread :P

Well.. if you collect vintage US paper it makes total sense to think and say that since most of the vintage paper comes from Ohio!!

In fact Most of it started in Ohio. Morgan,  A.B.See, Hennegan were all in Ohio in the early days of silent cinema (the other big area was NY). A.B did it nearly all for the 10 main studios in the 20s and then the Morgan Litho in the 30s (with other 2 US companies) produced nearly every piece of paper we know today ; a tradition that went on from the 40s to this day!!

So.. clearly..the Ohio community has a good reason (and chance) to get hold of beautiful paper..it runs in their veins lol. Wonder how many grand dads and grand mothers might have been involved in that industry....

Thanks Rosa! That's very interesting... the distribution hub in Canada was in Calgary, Alberta, so I know a lot of material has come/gone through there.    Its unsurprising that in these cases its elicited a lot of collectors and collecting around the area.  Seems like odd locations though, but then again i don't know me US states as well as others.

So I'm still crazy, but thanks to you I don't feel completely bonkers.

You know I used to know it but now I've completely forgotten it.  It's my goal to identify every Thai poster's film title I have in my collection next year.  This was one of the first Thai posters I ever purchased, and I really like the design.  The hopping zombies seem to be reaching right out of the poster for me.  Yikes!
