And of course the first recalled advance for Pulp Fiction, in which Uma is reading "Harlot In Her Heart." (In the later version, she's reading "Pulp Fiction").

Nice one Mel! Pulp Fiction's entire imagery is also a book!

In his defense, my original thread title was "They Were Books First". I was trying to be catchy and only meant posters with book references, but it wound up being misleading. I changed the thread title after I realized this. With that said, 90% of all movies are based on books, and there is no point starting any thread about movie origins inside a movie poster sub-forum.

Perhaps we don't understand what you mean by book reference.  Do you mean a picture of the book.  In that case, your Jaws example does not work.  If you mean direct reference, then why doesn't my Glorious Fool one work, and also most of Chris' which had things like "from the Raymond Chandler novel" on the poster?

To answer your question, a reference means a book referenced by picture or text. Your Glorious Fool poster is one, so is "from the Raymond Chandler novel". I was making a global statement that some of them didn't have any references or I couldn't find them.

I don't believe those rules were there when I first posted (unless I skimmed them).  If that's the case then my excuse is that the "rules" should have been more blatant (as they are now).

But then again I was never one to follow rules too closely...

And Rich are you now Deputy F. T. Rules?
