It's sad. I just wonder how many they sell on a regular basis.

Sorry, guys, but I don't know if I agree that this is a problem. The listing very clearly shows that it's a reproduction. Now, I'm not one to own a reproduction, but then again, if I wanted a nice image of The Black Cat for my theater, I could not afford to get an original, and I'd go with a print like this. In comparison to moviegoods, Frontgate states clearly that "A patented printing process results in the most faithful reproduction of the original possible." There's no chance someone is getting snookered by this unless they simply can't read. With moviegoods, you have to decipher what they mean by "new" as in "newly manufactured" or "not original".
Am I missing something as to why this is otherwise offensive?

I assume the general sentiments are just reflecting the overall bastardization of our hobby They are supposed to be authentic reproductions, but they are printed on canvas? I give it a big 'whatever'. I'd of course rather see people collecting and framing originals, which in most cases ironically can be had for less than what Frontgate is selling them for... No harm, no foul though... but as I said, not surprising either.

I should have been more specific than the original post, which was not specific at all.
My general complaint is that people part with hard-earned money for something that has no value whatsoever. I suppose that's in the eye of the beholder. But when originals go for less than a crappy copy, it rubs me the wrong way.
The moviegoods question is a completely different much more nefarious animal.

Eric.. what thet're doing is nothing new.. "art prints" have been sold for 100s of years for people to decorate their homes and offices. This item isn't sold as a "rare movie poster collectible" it's sold as "decoration" which is a field outside of collectibles.

Well that I get, for sure. Whenever I'm in blockbuster and I see someone carrying out one of their framed "movie posters" I cringe.

Rich,
I realize that it's not new.
I still think it's bullshit, what can I say. I'm not losing sleep over it.

I said that based on the fact that people are paying 4+ ties what an original costs and probably have no idea.
