A friend of mine has been working on the 3D conversion for a year and said the movie was shit.  FYI.

I tend to trust people who actually work on a movie, because they have first hand knowledge of how shitty the work done is.  But even without his opinion, it doesn't take a genius to know that this movie is going to blow.  We're all entitled to our bad taste, right?

Exactly.
As a former reviewer for United Media, I have screened thousands of 'stinkers,' many of which were far better than what people in the know had said.
That is why I try to reserve judgment (except when it comes to remakes).  wynk

And how does one become a film reviewer?

And how does one become a film reviewer?

Good question, Randy.
When I started (1986), it was a cryptic classified ad that read: "If you know the difference between Ingrid and Ingmar Bergman and can name the Magnificent Seven, we want to talk to you."
Seriously.
That's all that the ad said.
Luckily, I landed the job and it was a national gig.
But the world has changed a lot since then...

For someone starting out in the business, the first thing you need are samples.
Start a blog and start reviewing movies.
You have to write and prove that you can do it.
A blog will showcase your work and you can send the link to prospective employers.
Use social media to get your blog as much exposure as possible.
Network, network and network some more.
Before you know it, you'll have a library of sample reviews and a following.
Then leverage it all for a job.

You Ari, are the only one in the whole world I like that eats offal, misses his dead rat carcasses, draws women on walls with skin peeling off of them and keeps a meat cleaver by his bed.
