Does anyone know of any Braveheart repro's out there? I recently purchased a Braveheart poster and need help authenticating it. Are there specific things I need to look for to determine that it is authentic? I am new to this whole poster collecting so any help with be very helpful.

I have a repro copy that I got from like blockbuster or something 10 years or so ago. Measure it first... 27x40 is a good number. Mine was a very odd measurement. I have an original that I got from a theater if you want to compare. Take some pics and post them. I'll check them out.

Yes, as Charlie says - post some pics of all these posters you are concerned about. Will make authentication a lot easier...

Ok I will take some pics of it but it may be a few days before I can get around to it. As for the size it is 27x40. I will get some pics posted of it. Are there certain pieces of the poster I should take pictures of?

Well that is a good sign. If it is double sided I would say you are ok. Else snap a few picks near the bottom and some close ups of where it say "Opens Wednesday May 24th" there should be text underneath that. My Repro cuts off under that. This is all assuming you don't have the two face international version.

I have tried attaching pics but it says that the file is too large. What do I need to do to get it to post.

It is double sided and there is text underneath the open date on the poster. I purchased this from a lady that was a manager of a movie theater in the 80's to mid 90's. That is one of the reasons that I am wanting to make sure this is authentic. I figure it was a pretty good buy for only $5.00

You are going to have to use flickr or photbucket and post the link using the image url icon; second row of button and second from left... I think I read on here somewhere there is no space left for hosting pictures...

Your probably good... I wouldn't think twice then. You've got the measurement, the double sided, and provenance (bought from a theater manager). I would sleep easy on it being authentic. I'll give you $7 if you want to let it go ....

Thank you I will. I look at these as art. What do you think the value is on something like this? The lady I bought it from has many more poster which I intend to go back and buy in a couple weeks. She has Hudson Hawk, Perfect World, Magnolia, In the Name of the Father, License to Kill, And about 30 more.

The value is what someone will pay for it of course. It's hard to put value on these without knowing what condition they are in but I would say at least $25 to $60 for the Breaveheart. One went for $40 in May of this year on eBay. It looks a little beat up from the pictures which takes away value. If you have the cash and are looking for a new hobby make her an offer for everything she has.... Sounds like she will sell them to you cheap...

Next I talk to this lady I am going to offer her somewhere in the ball park of 100 bucks for somewhere around 30 posters. When I went this last time to her she had around 40 something posters and she said she would take 150 bucks for all of them but I did not have that much money on me. SO next time I go since I bought 12 of them I will see if she will take the 100 for all of them which is somewhere in the range of 30 posters. She had some original star wars posters but she was not willing to part with those ones :-( She just wants to get rid of them now because she has no room for them due to living in a mobile home.

I have also come across someone that is selling a 7 foot tall poster of the 1953 film Zombies in the Stratoshpere. They are asking 1,200 dollars for it. To me that seems a little steep. What are your thoughts?

Not into zombies; someone else would have to steer you on this one.

Yes! LA Confidential, License to Kill, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil are good ones in my book... Perfect World and The Rookie are Eastwood films but second tier posters still a good grab.

There are actually two (real) versions of this poster. I am not talking about the advance, which doesn't include the kiss image in the background. One version was released that spring (pre-opening), the other was released later that year in December (yes, 6 months after the opening), for an awards push. I believe that it was re-released in some places - it hadn't left our theater yet.
The only difference between these two version's (that I noticed) is that the text color for the 'Opens Wed...' line is white on the original and gold on the awards release.

As Archie stated there was the advance which was the same image but only of Mel standing, the background imagery wasn't present, and then final style which added the background images. There was also three different International styles which were handled by 20th Century Fox since Paramount handled the domestic release, and Fox handled the International release. The three styles were referred to as "International Campaign A", "International Campaign B" and "International Campaign C" at the very bottom of the posters. They featured different artwork than the U.S. styles, 27x40 inches, glossy stock, and double-sided. Getting a complete set of all three was rather difficult, I only came into a few sets but a friend of mine is friends with the screenwriter and had some friends at Paramount and she was able to get about a dozen sets.

Actually, I was saying that there are two versions of the 'final style', released almost a year apart.
