It's possible but that would be some impressively uniform glue application and why only put it on the folds and not all over the back?

Had glue been all over the verso...it would never have been removed easily from whatever surface it had been adhered to and salvaged, methinks...

Would someone use glue to mend or repair fold tears or weak spots?

I guess anything is possible.  :-\

Maybe they just used ruber cement to mend the folds and keep it from seperating further lol ;D

It wouldn't surprise me though with some of the shit people will actually try. Rubber cement would leave a line looking like tape and I would think that it would look glossy as well. But hell ya never know and it may remain a mystery to us unless someone from the forum was the one that purchased it. Would be cool if it was someone here. It is a great looking poster.

Yes, that picture makes it pretty clear -- it almost looks like packing tape.

Personally, I don't see this as a "simple" linenbacking, and I think it will require a fair amount of paint restoration for the staining and bleedthrough of stains.

But I am no restorer. Maybe Dario will give an opinion.

When people put "Sold as it is" it usually is because it looks worse than the photos suggest (this is just my personal experience).

simple restoration. clearly from the picture there is no bleed through to speak of and the poster looks pretty good.
linenbacking & cleaning will handle this poster very well and people should stop always trying to bag on other sellers

every where else is bad.. don't go there.. they have evil people.. no one else is honest.. ebay is a disease.. what does this kind of stuff accomplish?

I buy plenty on ebay and I buy plenty from almost every source out there. My own experiences on these site from Heritage to eBay to where ever are almost always top notch and only rarely do any issues arise from deals I have made and over the decades of experience only a small minority of people have proven to be dishonest or screwed up.

Hello,

I read the description and paid attention to were the seller is from.

I think he meant " tape on the back' but his English ....

That's thin packing tape. It will come of like butter with some chemicals.

Somebody got a great buy!

Best,
dario.

As far as Bruce/Richie  moron1 Guys com on! I hate to see anyone go. Can't we all just get a long, please.

that's what I think Dario. The poster does look great and it doesn't seem there are any stains bleeding to front.
The buyer will have a great looking poster when it's linenbacked and probably have a great display in his/her home.

That is one great looking Karloff poster. Had I not just dumped a wad of money (with an expectation I'm dumping some more pretty quick) I would have been on that poster myself as I have wanted one, even though I have been trimming my collection and selling off even Karloff pieces I don't think I need anymore.

Mirko, the seller has always been top notch. Bought a few things from them and am always happy.. Wish he would upload some Chandler posters I need. I might find $$$ for those items

These still pop up on Ebay:

It just goes to show that wonderful home discoveries still do happen! Found as a backing card on a framed picture, this partially trimmed (top imprint area) 14x18 inch WC for the 1935 MGM, Peter Lorre thriller, Mad Love, sold today, for $1250.00. It has a few scrapes and bruises-- all simple repairs, tho and not affecting the artwork.

It's always great to see when more rare pieces like this, unexpectedly still do turn up. ;)
This being from Pennsylvania.
