of course "best eye" Matt buys the best one.

I dig them and there are other strausfelds out there that look awesome.. pretty cool imaging reminds me of the art on some pre 1900 lithos.

this was in EMPs recent sale, 1915 German similar must have influenced Stausfeld

...and yes, even Scorsese when he was still a nobody!

Scorcese!

Supposedly Scorsese likes this image so much he has the quad hanging in his office.

...the vast majority of them were used in the theater and then thrown away. There really are only a handful Of these left in circulation.

The vast majority were pasted on tube station walls. Yes, there are few that have survived and that Breathless is incredibly rare. They were sometimes sold in the cinema - I remember as a student buying The Lacemaker quad which I still have.

Hahaha I tried my miserable $14k bid but it wasn’t meant to be.  I felt that anything above that was just stupid.  I never expected it to go that high, though, so I’m okay with losing.

Pockets can often run deep when someone wants something bad enough. And the realization of vastly overpaying (or not), is not even a consideration, many times.  faint2.gif Doh.gif

That Batman result is insane. I was in at a high 3 digit bid, be interesting to see what the next few that go through ebay end up at.

No but you are probably right on those prices. I rarely paid for posters in those days though - it was easy enough to get them from cinemas - I used to blag press kits from studio offices in Wardour Street as well.

Unless for the HA item, there were just two bidders knocking each other around.  And the loser of that lucked out with the emp lot...?

Otherwise, it is the emperor's new clothes of HA, to my mind.
