70mmWidescreen and Noah27 are both tough competitors at auctions. I've won against both, but it takes bidding up to unbearable pain to do so.

Yeah, I don't get these people.  They seem to be loaded, for sure, but they also buy the same posters over and over again, regardless of condition.  Tears, holes, nothing seems to matter to them and they usually greatly overpay on items that would sell at half price if they were not around.  To each his own, I guess.

I agree, T. Something seems very odd, and it seems a bit beyond even too much money and not enough sense. Hmmmm....    Okie

This folded JAWS OS just sold for a BIN of $399.00

Finally! Coming back down to the $300 that one guy wanted to pay.
Oh wait, he wanted a rolled one for that price or something, right?  LOL  laugh1

This folded OS for JAWS just went for $267.00

The edges have a few dings and pin holes here and there, but the main art looks fine.

Not really surprising.  Both are in terrible shape.  One has pinholes all over and the other one is refolded.  I would not buy posters like that from the 50s, let alone modern posters.

As a comparison, this copy sold on emp, just last month (July 3), for $370.00, with (per the description), corner paper loss, heavy rippling and moisture discoloration, and was graded poor to fair:

http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/archiveitem/3011325.html

So for one hundred bucks less, at 267.00, along with some pinholes and corner creases, I think someone did OK on the eBay copy mentioned in the previous post above.

Sure, its not perfect, but was right for someone. And aside from the standard fold lines, the main art seems to looks fine, too.

There are buyers for everything.  This beauty sold in 2003 for $200.  What is that, $400 today?  It's still crap, like all of the above.

With time and patience, people can get good stuff at the right price.  What is the point of buying lesser material that you will need to spend money on to linenback, pushing its price close to $500, when you can get better quality stuff at that same price if you wait.

Example: $580 less than a year ago.  That's a good deal.  The right poster, no linenbacking necessary, ready to frame.  And I'm sure you can get it for even cheaper.

Ha!!!  That reminds me of a recent shark campaign.  I have the poster, but I can't remember the title now.  A piece was missing as if a shark had eaten it.  Good publicity.

Enough posters to go around for all budgets, when one figures that some might not have the extra $$ needed to linen back a poster (or even want to).

I'm sure the buyer/winning bidder is happy with the poster and, at the end of the day, that's all that matters.

Very true.  I'm sure someone is, or I hope someone is.  $250 is a lot of money to be unhappy.

But I still don't think these posters are worth celebrating for their low selling prices.  That was my point.

Since the prices for JAWS OS seem to be a bit all over the map, even obtaining higher results when in lesser condition, I wasn't celebrating these 2 price results so much as showing that some OS, even in this lower grade, can still be gotten without paying a more premium price every time.

From memory, I think the shark bite was first used (more subtly)on the Open Water poster from 2003.

I don't have easy access to most of my posters due to domestic clutter. Even if I did it is not worth my time and effort to arrange a bespoke photograph of a $10 poster to prove a point when the image is readily available on Emovieposter for anyone who cares - http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/film_title/OPEN%2520WATER/archive.html

I don’t see a shark-bitten poster on the link.
