I have a few Tarantino related posters, all in good condition, and wondered what they'd be worth roughly. They are:

Resevoir Dogs Quad
Pulp Fiction Quad
Pulp Fiction 1-Sheet (not Lucky Strike version)
Pulp Fiction 4 x Double Crowns
Killing Zoe UK Bus Shelter
Killing Zoe Quad

Thanks for any input.

Do those books offer anything beyond the "Image Archive" or "Sales Results" databases on Emovie?  Would seem to be more efficient to use those than the books.

That link goes to the sales results page (same link as what you posted).  I never even looked at the bottom of the page advertising books.

Oh yeah, and look who's accusing me of not being able to spend $100 on posters (when I have no objection on a $100 mil for a Giacometti's sculpture).

Cheap ass!

The value of the "books" (actually magazines giving sales results) is if you are somewhere without a computer (like at a flea market or collectibles show), you can check the values in the magazines.

I started printing these before laptops were affordable and common, and before every seller at  flea markets and collectibles show started pricing off the Internet, so the value of these magazines has greatly diminished, which is why I sell a set of them at a huge discount.

On subject of Tarantino anyone want to once and for all explain the Grindhouse advance recall?

Is this the regular advance? If so, can someone post the recall. Thanks.

Wow.  I can't find the picture for the recalled version.  I do recall it said something like "3 1/2 hours of pure dynamite" or some such.  The problem was that the two movies did not add up to the total running time represented in that statement, and thus they recalled and changed it to "two movies for the price of one"  Otherwise, it's the same poster.

Hmm... I actually have this poster, but I never there were two versions.  Do they command different prices?  Someday I'll have to dig mine out to see which one I have!

Thank you, Holiday.

I never knew why or what the rewording involved only that there was a recall on the first design, thus, making it a tad more collectable. The last sold 'regular' version above went for $100 from cousin Bruce so I imagine the recall would go between 150 to 200. Thank you for the information. Now to find a picture of the recall.. anyone?

Oh, no.  The last recalled version I saw sold on ebay for over $500 at the time when Grindhouse hit the theaters.  That was the last one I saw sold.  I believe if that poster surfaced, given a few good Tarantino collectors (say like me, Chad, maybe you, Carson? maybe even Thierry) the price could go well above that IF we actually bid against one another.  At this point, I'd be out of the running given my recent refocusing. Even at the time, I couldn't stomach bidding more than $250 for the thing. Without a doubt, it is one of the rarest Tarantino posters out there.

$100 is a ridiculous price for the regular 27x40 DS - it is relatively common.  Like I've said before, too many poster fanboys competing on Emovie & Heritage - leads to crazy prices like that.  I picked mine up for $17 a couple of weeks ago on Ebay. And yes, mine is an original - the super-tiny "Weinstein Company" print in the mini-credits is perfectly legible:

Without a doubt, it is one of the rarest Tarantino posters out there.

Thanks for the knowledge. I knew nothing about the recall and unaware it was a rarity of that order; you're far more versed in things Tarantino as are Chad, Cj and a few others.

Congratulations on that find, Mel. That's why we often hear "eBay prices". Finding a poster under a rock on a random Tuesday while more casual collectors are away from the PC doing what people do (feeding kids, soccer games, changing diapers) is often what affords us those finds. Those with more time and enthusiasm will keep scoring great deals on eBay but are unique in degree of interest and ability to do so.

Moving up the price ladder, those with less time/enthusiasm for surfing the internet/eBay and wanting to avoid eBay risk can roll through the beautifully colored, big thumbnails at Bruce's or Heritage for no-risk peace of mind and convenience well worth the extra cost to these collectors.

On the highest rung of convenience, for those who don't have the free time or would rather shovel manure than spend their time surfing the internet/eBay for posters they opt to pay a dealer to put in the time for them: find a rarity, photos, emailing, packaging and shipping. It's about levels of convenience. And still, in 2010, one of the hardest concepts to explain to new collectors. Different price levels based on different levels of convenience. Edit: and I'm just speaking in general about a commonly overlooked aspect of buying, not speaking to your post or you directly, Mel.

Count me out, no interest on my end.

And I have to disagree, Holiday, the 2 internationals for both titles, the ones I gave you and that you so rudely traded to Chad, are way rarer than the "3 1/2 hours" version.

I'm actually surprised no one can locate a pic of the fabled "3.5 hours" poster.

There's no logical reason a movie poster for a mass-market movie that came out 3 years ago in 2,500+ theaters would be particularly rare or valuable.  The studio probably printed at least 10,000 of these - maybe many more. These posters pop up all the time on Ebay and you can find them for $25-$50 on Ebay right now as fixed price items.  Plus, there are tons of commercial reprints of this and "Everyday Joe" prefers to buy a 24x36 reprint over an odd-sized 27x40 original.  Yes, you'll get great service from Emovie and Bruce is a great guy but that's no reason to pay 4-8 times true market value.

Personally, I think the grindhouse poster is a visual cluster-fluck that doesn't look anything like the double-feature posters of the era it was emulating.  It looks more like a newspaper ad.  I liked the movies and the individual posters -- especially Planet Terror -- but I find nothing attractive about this over-priced one sheet.

IMO, the most recent poster that best captured the spirit of the "grindhouse" was this single-sided beauty starring America's favorite porn star... and yes, the folds are printed as part of the design (but then again, you all probably know that)...

This poster was not as widely available as many others. Granted that stills puts a huge run on it, but Weinstein titles in general do not get out in the numbers that all the other studios do. There was a boat load of 27x39 double sided fakes that were fished in the wholesale market shortly after the poster broke, so this is not a real good poster to try to get on the secondary market as many people got duped into buying these and probably sell them as originals. 300 was the other title that was offered with this one.

It's "2.5" hours - not "3.5" hours -  in the tagline for the recalled Grindhouse poster. I'm looking for one as well and anyone who finds one and tells me first, enabling me to purchase it, will be suitably rewarded with a poster or posters appropriate for their collection.
