Well Aussie paper usually IS thinner and somewhat glossy backs are normal so those are probably actually good signs!  The most telling part might be the dimensions - are they 27x40?

Appears to be just shy... 26 3/4" x 39 3/4".

That ESB appears to be an original.  It should be 26 1/2" x 39 3/4".  My folded copy - which came from Australia and almost certainly is original - has slightly fuzzy printing too.  All the Star Wars originals have such slightly fuzzy white text.  Here's the one that was sold on Emovie last week:

I think it's authentic Matt - just interesting that it is rolled (although there seem to be a lot of rolled Star Wars style C Aussie one sheets out there)

Thanks for the confirmation Mel.  Call me cautiously happy at this point!  Does yours exhibit the strong half-tone patterns as close-inspection?

It sure feels real to the touch... thin, slightly yellowing paper; a bit of gloss, but not modern-glossy; buttery smooth gradations of color in the Bespin gas clouds that a photo/reprint couldn't capture; and a mildly-metallic ink used for the title.  If this is a bootleg, it must have been done with the original plates.  And if that was the case, you'd think we'd be seeing tons of these show up rolled, which just hasn't happened.

By the way, I wouldn't say it has 'fuzzy' text like you'd see on a modern reprint.  Its more like the black ink was a bit heavy and it made the text look a touch goopy if that makes sense.  My legit Blade Runner exhibits similar sloppy text... especially in the NSS paragraph.

My ESB daybill has metallic-like ink for the title as well.  Even further support and evidence that you got the most ridiculous early X-Mas present of anyone!

Thanks for the close-ups Mel... looks like the real deal!  Score.

Yes Chris, xmas definitely came early for me!  But before y'all think I'm some sort of low-balling, bottom feeder... know that my absentee bid was actually in the $700 range.  I figured even if I had to pay my max bid I could still sell everything except for one or two choice posters, which would essentially be free.  I guess I just got lucky when no one else put in a bid!

And you got lucky it wasn't Bonham's LA going by Simes' thread in the General Forum!

Congrats Harry, a fantastic score...the sort of thing that makes this hobby such good fun, nothing like getting a good bargain, let alone a massive haul of bargains!

Three of them are pretty good IMHO - they're understandably emphasizing Darth Maul, the only cool part of the movie:

Agreed,  he shouldn't mess with his icons.

It's like DaVinci coming back and saying that the Mona Lisa would look better with a rose in her hair.  Besides, since technology has advanced, she really needs to be wearing an iphone.

Well, since Mona Lisa is without a doubt Da Vinci's lover (because someone that ugly has to be a man), a rose in his hair can only help.

So we get to see the atrocious additions he made with the special editions...again...AND in 3D?

Sounds like the ultimate headache.

Rare teal version of ESB goes for $567 (note that Heritage used a generic description and did not promote that it is the rare teal version):

As a new member, and collector, I figured I would share the three Star Wars posters I've acquired so far.

1) No-Date Revenge of the Jedi Folded

2) Empire Strikes Back Style A 30x40 Rolled

3) Star Wars Style D 1-Sheet Rolled

These were actually the first three movie posters I ever purchased, in that order. I think I got a pretty good deal on the latter two especially, since they both seem fairly rare. I've only seen one other rolled Style D in auction histories I've looked at, and it was in only 'good' condition, where all three of mine are C8-C9. I actually picked up all three from the last cinemasterpieces ebay auction.

I'm working on trying to get a complete (as possible) collection of US posters from the original trilogy. Though it will probably be a while before I can afford a few of the more rare/expensive ones.
