This thread should have been created a long time ago.

So I'll start.

I just finished watching a somewhat obscure 1981 horror flick called Just Before Dawn.  A Friday the 13th set-up with George Kennedy, Gregg Henry and maniacal twins.  Makes you remember how simple 80s movies could be, but also so effective.  Directed by Jeff Lieberman.

Here's the French poster:

You Ari, are the only one in the whole world I like that eats offal, misses his dead rat carcasses, draws women on walls with skin peeling off of them and keeps a meat cleaver by his bed.

Time Bandits..

Robin Hood: And you're a robber too. How long have you been a robber?
Strutter: Four foot one.
Robin Hood: Good lord! Jolly good. Four foot one? Well that-that-that is-is- a long time, isn't it?

Priceless.. Cheesy

Time bandits is so good. I watched it again over Christmas just gone.

We had a classic Double bill last night,  Plague of the Zombies, and Dracula Prince of Darkness.  I haven't seen DPOD for a while, You forget how good it is. POTZ is first rate, spoilt a bit by the ending...

Re-watching Iron-man Tonight, the first one.

Yep, last week.  It's good.

Saw Rio in 3-D a few days ago.  I would recommend it.  There really is a lot of personality in all of the characters in the film.

Scored this mini poster or whatever they're called from the theater a couple months ago, so it is legit!  Cheesy  And if I ever get bored there are a few puzzles on the back!  Grin  YESSSSS!!!

I saw Source Code. That and Hanna are the two best 2011 movies I've watched this year.

I just watched last years "L'Illusionniste". I'd recommend it without reservation.

Was forced to watch THE RING TWO (again) last night.
Some fine moments, but strongly suffers from stupid sequelitis...
I did like the first, though.

Way to spoil it... although you may just be doing people a favor.  That film is an exercise in tedium.

Source Code was a good idea that needed a much better execution.  Hanna was fun, if a little too by the numbers.  Neither was better than Rango.

That's what I heard.  A friend of mine was in the running to direct the movie and passed.  After seeing the final project, he regretted his decision.

Watched Godfather pt2 again last night, always a jolly old film. Even better was House of fear, that we watched after Godfather 2. You cannot beat a good old B&W Sherlock Holmes with Rathbone and Bruce ( Nigel that is ), to top the night off.

Watched Social Network last night.  Good flick.  Don't know if I cared so much about the characters or the plot (I'm not on facebook and I don't blog or tweet), but I thought it was well crafted.

That's the reason it didn't win the Academy Award, aside from not being the best movie of the year, of course.  Older Academy member simply didn't care enough.

T

Fell asleep to a 1975 episode of Columbo last night with Janet Leigh.  She plays a Gloria Swanson-like character who refuses to age and kills her husband when he refuses to sponsor her dance revival.  The fun thing about it is that she keeps watching a 1953 movie called Walking My Baby Back Home with Donald O'Connor and... a younger Janet Leigh.

Quite awesome.
