While the story is sad the issue is not new.  War correspondents die all the time while on the job, these two just happened to be a bit more famous than others.  In fact, I was just looking at my copy of this book last week:

over 135 photographers were killed or went missing during the whole Viet Nam conflict.

This more caught my eye because of it being film-related -- with his directing and Oscar nomination this past year.

Tim was two years below me at school. Great journalist, filmmaker and humanitarian. He was the antithesis of the war junkie reporter.

Restrepo should have won oscar for best doc. Extraordinary achievement.
