You don't need a very strong magnifying glass to see the printing patters. People in the print production business use loupes like these: http://www.magnifier.com/printers_loupes.htm

Thanks.  I guess the question remains... what am I looking for?  Does anyone have high res photos of what a stone litho, offset, inkjet, laserjet, etc... look like under magnification?
