One I have needed for quite awhile just never really actively pursued it. Thought I better get it before the price started to crawl up when I saw it auctioned.

Clan of the Cave Bear is great, Mel.  I can see your taste as a collector refining itself as we speak.  Each one of your new additions brings more pieces that definitely show growth in your collecting habits.  Cut to a year from today, and your apartment will be filled with originals of Monroe and Hepburn.

Well done.

PS: And I can almost guarantee that you got it for cheaper than what Ho bought it for.
PS2: Really like your new site.  Very sleek.

He did get it for less, but he also traded me, unsolicited, a very cool poster, and he waited for months to allow me to ship to him.  Mel deserves a medal for patience, as do a few others on this board ;-)

Here's a really cool B1:

I picked this up recently at one of the MoviePosterBid auctions - a rolled near mint copy of Once Upon a Time in America.  It's one of my favorite movies, and I would not have bet in favor of finding a rolled one, let alone one as nice as this.  Thanks Rich!

And yes, Mel has his awesome new Clan of the Cave Bear compliments of moi, but it was easy to let it go based on the one that I picked up recently from emovieposter.  This is the advance for Clan and I know of only one other copy that the owner wanted $700 for, though it was rolled. This is the only time that I've actually been pleased with a linenbacked poster.

Pulled off the cabinet, not particularly valuable. This is the 27x40, not the moviegoods special.

I was just looking through this now, and wow do I love those Avatar posters. I can't believe Joe was able to score an Avatar lenticular. My movie theater told me no because they had to send it back to the studio. I wonder how some people bypass that? I had seen a few on eBay, one that actually sold for $699.

Also that Once Upon a Time in American poster is awesome!

I am desperately looking for a Steven Spielberg signed letter (especially with Schindler's List content). If you have one I will make you an offer you can't refuse.

Here's a doozy: Who Framed Roger Rabbit/Kilian Jessica Rabbit Style D "red dress" variant, which rolled in today. (Thierry has one of these.  Anybody else?)

Even though I bought it from Ebay - and got a pretty good deal - Emovieposter was kind enough to contact Jeff Kilian for me.  He confirmed that about 100 "red dress" variants were printed: "'Disney saw our preproduction piece of 7 colors for the Jessica, and didn't like the colors.  Which was a problem, since we'd already done a partial run of over 100 with the 7 color scheme.  Disney wanted a separate color for Jessica's dress, thus the dress color change, and the edition jumped from 7 to 9 nine colors.  I don't have to tell you, that this jumped our costs significantly.  So short answer a little over 100 of the 7 color D's, and less than 250 of the 9 color D's [were printed].' He also says that this poster is "a tough one" (to find) and that he doesn't think that even he has one of them!"

Kilian sent this particular "sample" to comic book publisher/collector Bruce Hamilton, who died in 2005.

Here it is with my Style E (750 made) and my Star Wars Killian mylar. These mylars are absolutely fantastic by the way - they are very thick and heavy and have amazing print quality.  (Framing actually dulls the colors!)

I think the prices with that Avatar lenticular are temporary.  I would imagine when Titanic was a the top of the charts the posters were pricey, but now look at them.  Titanic posters are basically a dime a dozen.  I bet the same thing will happen with Avatar.  As far as the lenticular, it will go the way that the Spiderman 3 lenticular did.  $1000 one day, $200 a year later.  I'm happy to have the Avatar lenticular, and I'm also happy that I bought it well before all the hype of being #1 in history, and well below the present prices.

^ you're right about that. I was only hoping to get one for free via my movie theater buddies. I'd never buy one unless it was like $10.

Thanks, Chad.  I had to go head to head on one of them in Rich's auction, but it was too nice and too rare to let go.

Blade Runner 40x60? Spectacular!
Kalidor, Conan, Dark City, Apocalypse and Flight.  Schan, your taste in movies is only rivaled by your taste in posters. Bravo.
